This is a strategic leadership role focused on strengthening financial integrity and operational performance across assigned business units.
You will oversee business operations while establishing effective financial controls, processes, and reporting practices.
The role combines financial analysis, budget management, vendor oversight, and operational planning.
You will partner closely with academic leaders, finance teams, and other stakeholders to improve efficiency and resource allocation.
Your insights will help leadership understand performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and make informed business decisions.
The position offers significant autonomy in a complex, multifaceted organization with a mission-driven environment.
This is a fully remote opportunity with occasional travel to U.S. campus locations for key meetings, events, or training.
- Lead business operations and financial management for assigned units, ensuring activities align with established policies, procedures, applicable regulations, and generally accepted accounting principles.
- Establish and maintain effective financial controls and procedures while providing guidance and training to department and academic leaders on budget preparation and financial management.
- Act as a liaison with stakeholders to obtain timely, accurate financial information and support sound budgeting and resource-allocation decisions.
- Manage operational activities, including developing requests for proposals, evaluating contracts, and overseeing vendor relationships to ensure compliance, quality, and effective service delivery.
- Design, prepare, and distribute accurate financial, student, employee, and academic reports and dashboards to support performance monitoring and leadership decision-making.
- Analyze financial statements and operational metrics to identify productivity gaps, cost-reduction opportunities, resource reallocation needs, and potential program improvements.
- Provide training and ongoing support on travel and expense reimbursement systems, purchasing processes, financial policies, and related operational procedures.
- Collaborate with accounting, accounts payable/receivable, treasury, and payroll teams to improve processes, efficiency, and service quality.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen operational effectiveness and financial performance across the organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or an equivalent combination of education and training.
- At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in administrative and financial management within a growing, complex, and multifaceted organization.
- Strong expertise in business planning, financial analysis, budgeting, resource allocation, accounting, and financial management principles.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and time-management skills, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at different levels.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, management information systems, and relevant financial applications.
- Demonstrated ability to establish effective processes, monitor performance, identify operational improvements, and translate financial information into practical recommendations.
- Sound judgment, professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to build productive relationships across functions.
- Ability to work remotely while maintaining strong collaboration and responsiveness across geographically distributed teams.
- Base compensation of $115,000–$135,000, with additional compensation factors potentially affecting total compensation.
- Fully remote position, allowing you to work from anywhere in the United States.
- Occasional travel to campus locations in Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, and Washington, D.C., with advance notice.
