Job Description

Data Engineer (L6) - Ads (Signals and Measurement)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Data Engineer (L6) - Ads (Signals and Measurement) based in the United States.

As a Staff-level Data Engineer, you will help shape the data ecosystem that powers advertising measurement, optimization, and decision-making at significant scale. You’ll lead technical direction across conversion and attribution, measurement foundations, audience onboarding, and identity. The role sits at the intersection of data engineering, advertising technology, privacy, and machine learning. You’ll connect multiple technical domains into a cohesive ecosystem where signals and insights continuously improve advertising performance. You’ll influence architecture and engineering standards across organizational boundaries while mentoring experienced engineers. This is a highly collaborative environment for a seasoned technologist who thrives on complex problems, ambiguity, and broad technical ownership.

Accountabilities:
  • Set technical direction and architectural coherence across multiple advertising data domains, connecting systems and teams rather than optimizing individual areas in isolation.
  • Lead the evolution of data capabilities supporting conversion measurement, attribution, incrementality, lift, experimentation, and third-party measurement.
  • Drive data foundations for audience onboarding, identity resolution, targeting, and the generation of high-value advertising signals.
  • Help teams resolve complex cross-domain design decisions and establish scalable approaches that can be adopted across the broader organization.
  • Build and strengthen the data flywheel connecting signals, identity, measurement, attribution, and optimization.
  • Partner with senior engineers across data platform and related infrastructure teams to shape horizontal and platform-wide initiatives.
  • Establish high technical standards for data engineering systems, architecture, reliability, privacy, and governance.
  • Mentor and coach data engineers, supporting their technical development and helping teams adopt AI, agentic technologies, and emerging engineering tools.
  • Build trusted relationships across organizational boundaries and translate complex technical considerations into clear recommendations for engineering and business leaders.
Requirements
  • 12+ years of experience building data foundations, backend systems, or data engineering platforms, with a track record of providing technical direction to other engineers.
  • Significant experience working with advertising or ad-tech data, particularly in areas such as identity, measurement, attribution, audience, or targeting.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate across multiple technical domains and connect complex systems into cohesive, scalable solutions.
  • Experience establishing technical direction and building trust across organizational boundaries and through different teams or roles.
  • Strong understanding of modern end-to-end data stacks, including ingestion, processing, storage, and data serving.
  • Hands-on knowledge of large-scale distributed data technologies such as Spark, Kafka, and columnar data stores.
  • Strong understanding of data privacy, governance, and responsible data practices, with experience incorporating these principles directly into technical systems.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to engineers and business leaders alike.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguous environments and facilitating alignment among experienced, highly opinionated technical stakeholders.
  • Genuine interest in mentoring engineers and supporting their long-term technical growth.
  • Familiarity with current AI and agentic technologies and their practical applications in data engineering.
  • A graduate degree in Computer Science or a related data-focused discipline is a plus.
  • Formal experience mentoring engineers or supporting structured technical development programs is a plus.
Benefits
  • Annual compensation range of $510,000–$820,000, with the range varying based on location, experience, skills, and other market factors.
  • Compensation is structured around annual salary and stock options, with employees able to choose how their compensation is allocated between the two.
  • Comprehensive health insurance and healthcare plans.
  • Mental health support and wellness resources.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching.
  • Stock option program.
  • Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA).
  • Family-forming benefits.
  • Disability programs and life and serious injury benefits.
  • Paid leave of absence programs.
  • Flexible time off for full-time salaried employees.
  • Fully remote working opportunity within the United States.
  • Inclusive workplace and support for reasonable accommodations throughout the hiring process.
