Reports To: General Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt

Pay Grade: Grade 9

Oversight: Gaming Operations Manager and Senior Slot Technician

Gaming Class: Compact/Gaming

Position Summary:

The Director of Casino Operations provides executive‑level leadership and strategic oversight for all gaming departments. This position has direct operational responsibility for the Slot Department and direct supervisory responsibility over the Gaming Operations Manager, who oversees Table Games, Bingo, and Pull Tabs.

The Director ensures that all gaming operations—Slots, Table Games, Bingo, and Pull Tabs—operate efficiently, profitably, and in full compliance with National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) Minimum Internal Control Standards, tribal/state gaming compacts, and internal policies. This role drives departmental performance, optimizes game mix and revenue strategies, strengthens guest service standards, and ensures each gaming vertical has the staffing, resources, and leadership support required to meet operational and financial objectives.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

The Director of Casino Operations is responsible for the following duties:

Operational Leadership

  • Casino Operations Oversight — Provide executive direction for all gaming departments, ensuring operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and strong guest service delivery.
  • Gaming Operations Manager Supervision — Lead, mentor, and evaluate the Gaming Operations Manager, who oversees Table Games, Bingo, and Pull Tabs.
  • Departmental Performance Review — Review KPIs, staffing performance, game profitability, and operational effectiveness across all gaming verticals.

Direct Oversight of Slot Operations

  • Slot Floor Management — Oversee slot floor layout, game mix strategy, machine performance, jackpots, and slot tech operations.
  • Slot Compliance & Controls — Ensure adherence to MICS, payout accuracy, asset tracking, and machine movement documentation.
  • Slot Financial Performance — Monitor slot revenue trends, player tracking data, and promotional impacts.

Oversight of Table Games, Bingo, and Pull Tabs (via Gaming Operations Manager)

  • Leadership Oversight — Provide comprehensive leadership across Table Games, Bingo, and Pull Tabs to ensure secure, efficient, and compliant operations.
  • Game Integrity & Security — Maintain strict game protection standards, surveillance coordination, incident documentation, and adherence to regulatory requirements across all gaming verticals.
  • Operational Compliance & Controls — Oversee payout accuracy, inventory management, cash handling, product reconciliation, and destruction procedures to ensure full compliance and financial accuracy.
  • Staffing, Training & Readiness — Direct staffing levels, training programs, and operational preparedness to support consistent service quality and smooth execution of gaming activities.
  • Revenue & Performance Monitoring — Review sales trends, profitability, inventory turnover, and financial performance to ensure strong revenue outcomes and operational efficiency.

Compliance & Regulatory Requirements

  • Regulatory Compliance — Maintain strict adherence to NIGC MICS, tribal/state compacts, internal controls, and surveillance requirements across Slots, Table Games, Bingo, and Pull Tabs.
  • Audit & Documentation — Oversee recordkeeping, incident reporting, financial documentation, and audit readiness for all gaming departments.

Financial Management

  • Budget Development — Prepare annual budgets, revenue forecasts, staffing plans, and capital expenditure proposals.
  • Cost Control — Identify inefficiencies and implement cost‑saving measures while maintaining service quality.
  • Gaming Technology Procurement — Lead procurement of slot machines, table game equipment, bingo systems, pull tab inventory, and related technologies.

Staff Leadership & Development

  • Managerial Coaching — Mentor the Gaming Operations Manager and departmental supervisors.
  • Performance Evaluations — Conduct evaluations and hold managers accountable for operational standards.
  • Training & Resources — Ensure departments have adequate staffing, training, equipment, and support.

Guest Experience & Marketing Collaboration

  • Guest Service Excellence — Drive service standards across all gaming departments.
  • Marketing Coordination — Partner with Marketing to align promotions, events, and player engagement strategies with gaming operations.

Qualifications – Education and Experience:


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience or a minimum of 7 years of experience in gaming operations with 5 years of experience in a leadership role.
  • Excellent knowledge of casino operations including casino games, player tracking systems, slot operations, and table games.
  • Ability to anticipate financial issues, identify trends, analyze data, and create solutions.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and compliance requirements relating to gaming operations.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in business management or a related field or a minimum of 10 years of experience in gaming operations with 7 years of experience in a leadership role.
  • Professional certification in Gaming Management or Business Management.
  • Experience in working with tribal governments and tribal gaming commissions.
  • Experience in managing multi-million-dollar budgets and financial reports.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in the implementation of gaming promotions, customer loyalty programs, and player development.
  • Ability to lead, coach, mentor, and motivate a diverse team of professionals.
  • Proven track record of increasing gaming revenue and profitability while maintaining the highest level of customer service.

Physical Demands:

Job-specific abilities and requirements include:

Ability to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods of time.

Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

Ability to perform repetitive motion from use of a computer.
