Accountabilities:
  • Lead or play a central role in business development activities, including in-licensing, out-licensing, co-development and co-commercialization agreements, research collaborations, platform partnerships, option-based transactions, supply agreements, geographic licensing arrangements, joint ventures, and other structured deals.
  • Coordinate cross-functional diligence involving R&D, technical operations and CMC, clinical, regulatory, legal, intellectual property, finance, commercial, and executive teams.
  • Develop business cases, valuation models, competitive assessments, transaction rationales, and financial frameworks to support strategic decision-making.
  • Structure, negotiate, and finalize term sheets, letters of intent, confidentiality agreements, and definitive transaction agreements in partnership with legal and executive leadership.
  • Prepare strategic presentations and recommendations for senior management, executive committees, and the Board of Directors.
  • Build and maintain relationships with biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, academic institutions, and other potential strategic partners.
  • Serve as a key contact for existing and prospective partners, representing the organization with professionalism, credibility, and strategic insight.
  • Support alliance transitions and post-signing governance to facilitate successful execution of strategic collaborations.
  • Partner with leaders across research, development, manufacturing, commercial, finance, legal, intellectual property, investor relations, and corporate strategy.
  • Synthesize complex scientific, clinical, strategic, operational, and financial information to build internal alignment around external opportunities.
  • Contribute to corporate planning, portfolio prioritization, long-range planning, and strategic review processes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of business development experience within biotechnology or life sciences, particularly in technology licensing, research collaborations, and strategic transactions.
  • Strong understanding of the scientific, clinical, and regulatory factors that influence value throughout therapeutic development.
  • Ability to engage credibly with R&D, clinical, development, and other technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated track record of negotiating and closing complex biotechnology or life sciences transactions.
  • Strong strategic judgment combined with financial modeling, valuation, and transactional expertise.
  • Ability to synthesize large volumes of scientific, clinical, strategic, and financial information into clear and compelling recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Experience operating with executive-level visibility and discretion while managing sensitive and confidential processes.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to build alignment across diverse teams while maintaining momentum.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, relationship management, and negotiation skills.
  • MBA, MD, or PhD is preferred.
  • Experience working across multiple transaction types and strategic partnership models is highly valuable.
  • Ability to travel periodically for team and company events.

Benefits:

  • Anticipated salary range of $250,000–$275,000 USD.
  • Fully remote position within the United States.
  • Periodic travel opportunities for team and company events.
  • High-impact leadership role spanning business development, strategic transactions, partnerships, and corporate planning.
  • Direct exposure to senior management, executive committees, and Board-level strategic discussions.
  • Opportunity to work across scientific, clinical, regulatory, financial, commercial, and operational disciplines.
  • Exposure to licensing, research collaborations, co-development, co-commercialization, and other strategic transaction structures.
  • Opportunity to build relationships across the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and academic ecosystems.
  • Compensation may vary based on relevant experience, educational background, geographic location, and other applicable factors.
  • Equal opportunity work environment focused on considering qualified candidates without discrimination based on legally protected characteristics.
