Under direction, plans and coordinates various aspects of municipal access channel cable television programs; does other related duties as required.Note: The examples of work for this title are for illustrative purposes only. Composes or edits program script to meet management or other requirements, using typewriter or computer terminal. Coordinates various aspects of production, such as audio work, scenes, music, timing, camera work, and script writing. Gives instructions to staff to schedule broadcast and to develop and coordinate details to obtain desired production. Reviews production to ensure objectives are attained. Views taped program to select scenes to be used for promotional purposes, using video equipment. Listens to audio tape recording to verify program, script, or sound effects conform to broadcast standards, using audio equipment. May obtain costumes, props, music, or other equipment or personnel to complete production. May coordinate production details to produce live broadcasts from locations distant from station. Requirements:Possession of a Bachelor's degree in a Communications/Broadcasting field from an accredited college or university. Five (5) years of experience in the organization, direction, planning, coordination, and control video recording and broadcasting.For Senior: Three (3) years of experience as a Video Field Producer and certified, successful completion of eighteen (18) hours of job related Career Building courses as approved by the Human Resources Office. Upon verification of requirements, promotion will take effect the following July 1.For Principal: Three (3) years of experience as a Senior Video Field Producer and certified, successful completion of an additional eighteen (18) hours of job related Career Building courses as approved by the Human Resources Office. Upon verification of requirements, promotion will take effect the following July 1.Knowledge and Abilities:Knowledge of lighting, spacing and editing techniques. Knowledge of video camera and digital camera equipment.Ability to outline program content and evaluate finished scripts. Ability to compose or edit program scripts to meet objectives. Ability to coordinate various aspects of production, such as audio work, scenes, music, timing, camera work, and script writing. Ability to give instructions to staff to schedule broadcast and to develop and coordinate details to obtain desired production. Ability to coordinate production details to produce live broadcasts from locations distant from station. Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate activities of video camera staff.Ability to exercise independent judgment in evaluating situations and making determinations.Ability to organize assigned work and develop effective work methods.Ability to direct the establishment and maintenance of records and files.Ability to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform duties of this position.
