We are seeking an experienced ADAS Systems Integration, Development & Vehicle Test Engineer to support the development, integration, testing, and validation of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Automated Driving (AD) technologies for our customer, Porsche, in San Jose, California.
The successful candidate will play a key role in end-to-end feature development, software and hardware integration, vehicle commissioning, test execution, data analysis, and issue resolution. This position requires a hands-on engineer who is comfortable working with development vehicles, sensors, ECUs, measurement systems, and globally distributed engineering teams.
What You'll Do
ADAS Systems Development & Integration- Develop and refine ADAS/AD feature requirements, customer functions, and engineering specifications.
- Support feature development throughout the entire lifecycle, from concept and integration through validation and release.
- Create validation strategies, test plans, acceptance criteria, and scenario-based test catalogs.
- Manage requirements and system interfaces across software, ECUs, sensors, vehicle networks, and supporting systems.
- Apply systems engineering methodologies, including Automotive SPICE, Scrum, Functional Safety, and SOTIF practices.
- Integrate and deploy ADAS software, ECUs, sensors, and computing platforms into development vehicles.
- Perform software flashing, configuration, calibration, startup, and system verification activities.
- Maintain software baselines, vehicle configurations, release documentation, and compatibility records.
- Troubleshoot software and hardware integration issues through diagnostics, log analysis, and communication trace evaluation.
- Ensure development vehicles remain operational, reproducible, and ready for testing activities.
- Conduct vehicle-level, integration, regression, smoke, simulation, and road testing activities.
- Execute local and cross-country test drives while maintaining safety and compliance requirements.
- Verify vehicle readiness and troubleshoot issues identified during testing.
- Document test results, defects, and corrective actions in internal systems.
- Support release readiness assessments and validation signoff activities.
- Install, configure, and maintain data acquisition and measurement systems within development vehicles.
- Integrate sensors, network interfaces, data loggers, synchronization systems, and onboard computing platforms.
- Analyze measurement data to evaluate feature performance and identify root causes of system issues.
- Commission and calibrate sensors and data collection equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of hardware, software, calibration status, and network topology.
- Work closely with software developers, systems engineers, validation teams, workshop personnel, and project managers.
- Coordinate with international engineering teams, including engineering partners in Germany.
- Provide technical guidance, troubleshooting support, and setup documentation.
- Escalate safety, quality, schedule, and technical risks when necessary.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in ADAS/AD development, automotive software integration, embedded systems, vehicle testing, or related areas.
- Experience integrating software and hardware into development vehicles.
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
- Working knowledge of:
- CAN / CAN FD
- FlexRay
- Automotive Ethernet
- Windows and Linux environments
- Automotive diagnostics and networking
- Basic scripting or programming experience.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Master's degree in a related engineering discipline.
- Experience with camera, radar, lidar, GNSS, and localization systems.
- Experience using:
- Vector CANoe / CANalyzer
- dSPACE
- ETAS tools
- Vehicle data logging systems
- Diagnostic and calibration tools
- Experience with Python, Bash, PowerShell, Git, and Visual Studio.
- Knowledge of SIL/HIL testing environments.
- Familiarity with Automotive SPICE, Functional Safety, SOTIF, and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Automotive OEM or Tier 1 experience.
- Formal vehicle test driver experience.
- Basic German language skills.
Work Environment
- Full-time, on-site position located in San Jose, CA.
- Regular interaction with development vehicles, workshop environments, and measurement equipment.
- Domestic and international travel required.
- Occasional evening and weekend work during testing campaigns.
- Ability to drive for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work in varying weather, road, traffic, and environmental conditions.
