About the role

We are seeking a customer-focused Relationship Banker to join our team in our branch in Macon, GA. This role is responsible for assisting customers with opening new accounts, maintaining existing accounts, and providing information about the Bank’s products and services.

​The ideal candidate will deliver efficient, high-quality customer service while building and strengthening customer relationships. This position plays an important role in representing the Bank, identifying customer needs, and recommending appropriate banking solutions to support their financial goals.

What you'll do

Relationship Management & Portfolio Growth

  • Relationship Building: Build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships, serving as their trusted banker by leveraging a deep knowledge of the Bank’s products and services.
  • Account Onboarding: Help customers by efficiently opening new accounts, including DDA, savings, IRAs, certificates of deposit, safe deposit boxes, and other specialized bank products.
  • Consultative Services: Quote products and interest rates accurately in an effort to promote and inform customers of the Bank’s products and services.
  • Relationship Acquisition: Identify, target, and onboard prospective individuals, small businesses, and corporate clients through proactive networking, referrals, joint appointments and community engagement.
  • Account Maintenance: Clear and explain account features, fees, and benefits to customers; actively assist with account updates, closures, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Community Presence: Represent the Bank in business development efforts in the local community and at scheduled community events.

Service Excellence & Customer Engagement

  • Lobby Engagement: Enhance customer relationships by meeting and greeting customers in a friendly, professional manner as they enter the branch.
  • Issue Resolution: Handle customer complaints and special customer circumstances professionally, ensuring a fair resolution or escalating to management when necessary.
  • Communication Flow: Promptly answer incoming branch phone calls, assist callers directly, and/or transfer callers to appropriate internal bank personnel.
  • Special Projects: Support internal initiatives and from time to time assist with assigned branch marketing, branch events, or custom service projects to champion new bank services.

Compliance, Controls & Risk Mitigation

  • Regulatory Adherence: Ensure total compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and rules governing the Bank’s products and services.
  • Policies & Procedures: Understand and comply fully with Bank Policies and Procedures, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML).
  • Security Procedures: Strictly follow established dual control procedures, including but not limited to the daily operational opening and closing of the Branch facility.
  • Fraud Prevention: Educate customers about common scams, identity theft risks, and fraud prevention measures to safeguard both the Bank’s customers and institutional assets.
  • Confidentiality Standard: Maintain a clean, organized work area which ensures the safety, security, and absolute confidentiality of all customer records and transactional data.

Branch Operations & Vault Agility

  • Depository Management: Ensure that night drop bags are properly collected, logged, and processed; ensure incoming mail payments are carefully logged and processed according to Bank procedures.
  • Transaction Processing: Process and/or approve wire transfers within established individual limit parameters.
  • Approvals & Overrides: Approve transactions for Tellers and/or Vault Tellers, including check-cashing verification within established individual limits.
  • Hands-on Versatility: Work fluently as a front-line Teller or Vault Teller when needed to balance lobby traffic or handle peak business volumes.
  • Liaison & Admin Support: Provide support to auxiliary departments of the Bank such as Deposit Operations, Loan Operations, and Compliance; attend all required branch staff meetings.
  • Required Training: Complete all assigned training program tracks on schedule, including but not limited to recurring regulatory compliance training.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years banking experience, preferably as a Personal Banker
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Experience with Jack Henry Products is highly preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Strong customer service skills alongside excellent written and oral communication skills. Proficient with (or the ability to quickly master) specialized banking hardware, software applications, and tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; proven ability to accurately handle and process large volumes of cash.

Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions

  • Environment: Fast-paced banking/business office environment with standard office temperatures, moderate noise from computers, printers, telephones, and scanning equipment, and median lobby traffic. Must be available to rotate in & out of each branch location
  • Physical Demands: Ability to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, reach, stand for various lengths of time, and safely lift or move coin bags/boxes weighing up to 25 pounds as required to perform daily operational tasks.
