Job Description
The Division of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology in the Department of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh and UPMC seeks an outstanding clinician-scientist at the Assistant Professor level (non-tenure track) with subspecialty expertise in systemic autoinflammatory
diseases (SAID), inborn errors of immunity (IEI), and vasculitis, including VEXAS syndrome. The physician will be responsible for the management of patients with rare autoinflammatory and immunogenetic diseases in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Responsibilities include staffing the Autoinflammatory and Immunogenetics Clinic (at least two half-day clinics per week), inpatient rheumatology coverage at UPMC hospitals as assigned (approximately four weeks annually), and participation in clinical trials as opportunities develop. The physician will serve as a preceptor to fellows and residents and will hold a teaching appointment in Internal Medicine. Effort allocation is approximately 80% clinical and 20% academic (research and teaching).
General rank requirements: An Assistant Professor should have demonstrated teaching ability, experience in advanced study and research, or professional experience of a kind that would enable them to make an academic contribution. The Assistant Professor should possess a doctoral or appropriate professional degree (MD or DO) and be Board Certified or Board Eligible. They should exhibit promise of originality and excellence in some field of scholarship and demonstrated ability in guiding and counseling students. To be appointed to an assistant professorship, a person should have the potential for promotion to Associate Professor.
