Position Description:

About Brandt VX
Brandt VX is an analytics and quality assurance firm dedicated to fueling informed decisions in 911 emergency communications systems. At the intersection of data science and public policy, our team brings together seasoned subject matter experts with a proven track record of advancing 911 system performance. Our proprietary analytical platform, Victor, is a first-of-its-kind suite of tools that analyzes the past, predicts the future, and optimizes readiness — removing guesswork from the complex decisions that emergency services administrators face every day. Analytics with grit is not just a motto; it is how we operate.

Position Summary
The Data Analyst Intern will support the evaluation of 911 system performance data with a focus on deployment readiness, response time analysis, and adherence to operational standards. Working directly alongside Brandt VX analysts, the intern will gain hands-on experience with Victor — our proprietary analytical platform — and contribute to real analytical work that drives quality improvement for emergency services clients. The ideal candidate brings a data-informed mindset, strong quantitative fundamentals, and a commitment to producing accurate,
meaningful analysis in support of continuous quality improvement (CQI) in EMS delivery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Assist in analyzing system-wide response time performance against contractual and clinical benchmarks.
· Support QA reviews of dispatch and field activity data related to unit availability, move-ups, and status changes.
· Help audit deployment decisions and dispatcher compliance against established system status plans.
· Assist in the investigation of response outliers, delayed response events, and low-coverage intervals to identify root causes.
· Contribute to the generation of recurring performance reports, including resource distribution analytics and workload analysis across shifts.
· Support analysts in documenting noncompliant events, including contributing factors and applicable exemption findings.
· Apply statistical methods to assist with demand modeling, workload optimization, and resource deployment planning.
· Help maintain documentation for QA/QI processes, analytical protocols, and performance standards.
· Participate in team reviews, project stand-ups, and intern development sessions throughout the program.

Qualifications
Required
· Currently enrolled pursuing a degree in Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Public Administration, or a related analytical field.
· Proficiency in SQL for querying, filtering, and manipulating relational databases.
· Strong foundation in statistical reasoning, including descriptive statistics, distributions, and basic modeling concepts.
· Highly detail-oriented with the ability to identify anomalies and inconsistencies within large, complex datasets.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to convey technical findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred
· Coursework or project experience in predictive modeling, time-series analysis, or operations research.
· Exposure to performance compliance frameworks, resource optimization, or scheduling analysis.
· Familiarity with public safety, emergency services, EMS, or 911 dispatch operations.

What You'll Gain
· Direct mentorship from experienced analysts and subject matter experts in 911 systems analytics and quality assurance.
· Hands-on experience with Victor, Brandt VX's proprietary analytical platform, applied to live client data.
· Exposure to the full analytical lifecycle — from raw data ingestion and validation through assessment, reporting, and stakeholder delivery.
· If applicable, a portfolio-worthy analytical project presented to the Brandt VX team at the close of the internship.
· A working understanding of how rigorous data analysis supports continuous quality improvement in emergency services.
· Potential pathway to a full-time analyst role upon graduation, based on performance.
Brandt VX is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
