Role Summary:
The Coordinator, Admissions plays a crucial role in guiding and supporting applicants through every stage of the admissions process. This includes evaluating and processing applications, as well as determining admission and scholarship eligibility for both domestic and international candidates.
This role is essential in maintaining Huron’s reputation for excellence, attracting high-quality students, and achieving enrolment targets through outstanding service and support. The coordinator provides exceptional customer service by responding to inquiries, resolving issues, and offering personalized assistance to ensure a smooth and positive admissions experience. Working closely with the Recruitment team, the Registrar’s Office, Student Accounts, and other campus partners, this role provides holistic support and ensure a seamless transition for students into Huron.
Responsibilities:
- Review and evaluate applications, transcripts, and supporting documentation to make independent admission decisions across a range of applicant categories (domestic, international, transfer, mature, and special students).
- Verify academic documents, identify discrepancies or fraudulent submissions, and ensure alignment with recruitment, academic, and visa timelines.
- Assess applicants for scholarship eligibility and ensure awards are accurately recorded on student records.
- Evaluate transfer credit eligibility and update student records accordingly.
- Maintain accurate applicant and student data through daily PeopleSoft entry, including processing hard copy applications, assigning student IDs, and generating access codes.
- Respond to inquiries from prospective students, families, guidance counsellors, agents, and the public regarding admissions, programs, scholarships, student life, and pathways.
- Collaborate with campus partners to support enrolment finalization and ensure compliance with institutional policies.
- Produce reports and maintain accurate applicant and student records using enterprise systems.
- Provide flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends during peak admissions cycles and recruitment events.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of administrative experience in a post-secondary or educational; admissions or enrolment experience preferred.
- Familiarity with the Arts, Social Science disciplines, and Theology programs offered at Huron is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of university academic rules, regulations, and admissions requirements and their impact on prospective students.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with prospective students, families, guidance counsellors, agents, and the public.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access); experience with PeopleSoft and/or CRM systems is considered an asset.
- High attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
- Strong customer service orientation and cultural sensitivity.
