You will combine deep genetic and agronomic expertise with strong commercial insight to guide selection decisions 3–5 years ahead of commercialization. Acting as a key bridge between research, marketing, and sales, you will help define which genetic traits and product lines will succeed in diverse regional environments. The position operates at the intersection of science and business, requiring both analytical rigor and practical field understanding. You will engage with major seed genetics organizations and internal stakeholders to identify high-potential innovations early. This is a highly mobile, field-driven role with significant impact on product strategy, training, and market adoption across North America.
In this role, you will lead genetic selection strategy and provide long-term direction for product development across the Northern Cornbelt, ensuring alignment between research innovation and commercial priorities. You will evaluate advanced genetic material and trait combinations, helping identify promising lines years before market launch, while collaborating closely with breeding and research teams.
- Define and execute 3–5 year genetic selection and product strategies aligned with regional market needs
- Review and assess genetic libraries and research plots to identify high-potential trait combinations
- Collaborate with sales and marketing to translate genetic insights into clear product positioning and messaging
- Deliver market analysis, competitive insights, and product training to internal teams and external stakeholders
- Support demand planning and product development tools to improve forecasting and commercialization decisions
- Build strong relationships with major seed genetics organizations to identify emerging innovations early
- Lead training initiatives to ensure consistent understanding of genetic product value across teams
This position requires deep expertise in plant genetics, seed science, and field research, combined with strong commercial awareness and the ability to translate technical insights into actionable business strategies. You should bring extensive experience in genetic selection or seed development, ideally within large-scale agricultural environments. Strong communication and leadership skills are essential, as this role involves influencing both internal teams and external partners.
- Advanced degree (MS or PhD preferred) or 15+ years of relevant experience in seed genetics, breeding, or field research
- Extensive experience in genetic evaluation and seed industry product development
- Strong understanding of genetic traits, breeding systems, and agricultural production environments
- Ability to interpret complex biological and agronomic data into commercial insights
- Proven experience working with cross-functional teams including R&D, marketing, and sales
- Strong presentation, communication, and training capabilities
- High level of autonomy, strategic thinking, and decision-making ability
- Willingness to travel extensively (up to 75–85%) across growing and non-growing seasons
- Competitive salary range of $145,000–$155,000 annually plus annual incentive eligibility
