Description: Job Summary

Perform duties to supervise the production department ensuring safety, environmental compliance, quality and efficiency all align with the goals of the Manufacturing Department.

Requirements:

Supervisory Duties

  • Maintain safe operating practices and good working conditions in the department.
  • Develop and implement Company safety programs and activities, and act as Safety Leader.
  • Facilitate Daily EMDS Activity with KPI input, monitoring goals, daily team member review, problem-solving activities, and continuous improvement.
  • Promote Standard Work with Best Practices work environment.
  • Escalate issues involving personnel injury, product rejection, property damage, equipment issues preventing the flow of production, and all downtime events to Manufacturing Manager.
  • Lead, monitor, and audit 5S, and support CANDO program.
  • Coordinate Preventive Action and Continuous Improvement activities in assigned areas.
  • Assign, train, review and check work, assist employees, evaluate performance, and eliminate ordinary operating difficulties.
  • Ensure all Team Leaders are held accountable to following Leader Standard Work practices and use Leader Standard Work sheet as a coaching tool in weekly one on one meetings with Team Leaders.
  • Maintain daily attendance records, review hours worked records, overtime reports for payroll processing, and hold Team Members accountable to attendance adherence.
  • Hold team members accountable to pre-determined performance targets.
  • Conduct performance reviews with all associates within assigned department.
  • Develop, coordinate, and monitor status of assigned projects within approved budgets, and evaluate progress and report to department manager and other department as required.
  • Recommend hiring and temporary placement of workers to department manager.

Production Duties

  • Coordinates with Team Leaders to prioritize daily scheduling based on published production schedule.
  • Review production schedule to determine overtime needs and make recommendations to PC Manager and Manufacturing Manager.
  • Supports Training Team with New Hire Orientation, New Hire Training, Re-training, and Compliance Training.
  • Conduct or designate weekly inventory of finished goods and report the count to production scheduler.
  • Schedule and coordinate the logistics for transferring of weekly pre-mixes & bulk pail pre-weighs.
  • Conduct corrective action investigation for internal problem, PCARs, and QPRs.
  • Coordinate scheduled preventive maintenance and escalate issues needing corrective maintenance immediately.
  • Monitor documentation (EBC, logs)
  • Oversee inventory counts and variance investigation immediately so materials can be reconciled in the ERP system.
  • Lead, monitor, and audit shop floor 5S, and support CANDO program.
  • Coordinate Preventive Action and Continuous Improvement activities on shop floor.
  • Work with PE’s and Maintenance to reduce downtime events, and schedule production downtime for planned maintenance.
  • Coordinate special Research and Development Department and Quality Department requirements to include authorized rework.
  • Coordinate tote cleaning program and direct needs as required by the production schedule.
  • Control and coordinate scrap, and rework and reject inventory, including final disposition.
  • Oversee and direct bulk product tanker loading and offloading of raw materials.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Have a High School Diploma with minimum 3-years’ experience as a supervisor in a related area or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • General understanding of manufacturing and/or chemical environment preferred.
  • Must have good communication skills both written and verbally.
  • Must possess basic math skills.
  • Must be able to learn and apply LEAN tools in daily work.
  • Must be able to create and support a culture to instill discipline in following SOP guidelines and escalating issues when Non-Conformances appear at any part of the process.
  • Must have experience and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Payroll Systems, and other software tools used in daily work.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds and stand for the majority of an 8-hour day in an environment consisting of heat, dust and dirt.
  • Excellent attendance is required.
