This role sits at the heart of scholarly publishing operations, supporting the growth and quality of academic journals through efficient peer review management and editorial coordination. You will oversee manuscript flow across submission, review, and decision stages while ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with editorial standards. The position involves close collaboration with international editorial, production, and marketing teams, contributing to the success and visibility of global journals. You will also engage directly with authors, reviewers, and editors, maintaining strong professional relationships across regions. In addition to operational responsibilities, the role includes mentoring junior team members and supporting continuous process improvement. It is a dynamic environment that combines editorial expertise, stakeholder management, and leadership within academic publishing.
- Manage end-to-end journal operations, including manuscript tracking, administrative processes, and peer review workflows using editorial management systems.
- Execute advanced editorial tasks such as reviewer selection, external editor coordination, and decision support for manuscript progression.
- Supervise and guide 1–2 Peer Review Associates, ensuring balanced workload distribution and performance alignment with team objectives.
- Maintain effective communication with authors, editors, reviewers, and internal global stakeholders to ensure smooth journal operations.
- Monitor manuscript progress across all stages of peer review, ensuring deadlines, quality standards, and publication targets are met.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across editorial, production, and marketing to support journal development and growth initiatives.
- Identify process inefficiencies, recommend improvements, and contribute to strategies that enhance turnaround time and editorial quality.
- Uphold research integrity and ethical publishing standards, staying updated with industry guidelines and addressing complex ethics cases when required.
- Escalate operational, editorial, or personnel issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Master’s degree in Humanities, Social Sciences, or a related discipline; PhD is preferred.
- Strong understanding of peer review processes and academic publishing workflows.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to engage global stakeholders professionally.
- Proven organizational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience using editorial or manuscript tracking systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and collaborate effectively within a team.
- Ability to remain calm and professional while resolving complex or sensitive editorial situations.
- Familiarity with research integrity standards and ethical publishing practices is highly desirable.
