Senior Manager, Software Engineering

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Manager, Software Engineering based in the United States.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced engineering leader to guide the development and evolution of mission-critical healthcare technology solutions. The role combines strategic technical leadership with people management, overseeing high-performing software engineering teams responsible for web applications and complex system integrations. You will collaborate closely with product, design, quality, regulatory, and operational stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and compliant solutions that support critical healthcare workflows. Working in a fast-paced and highly regulated environment, you will influence technical direction, improve engineering practices, and drive operational excellence. Accountabilities
  • Lead the technical vision, architecture, and execution of full-stack software solutions, including front-end applications, back-end services, data systems, and third-party integrations.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers, fostering professional growth, collaboration, engagement, and high performance.
  • Partner with product management and user experience teams to define product strategy, prioritize initiatives, and deliver impactful features.
  • Collaborate with technical project managers, quality assurance teams, quality engineers, regulatory specialists, and business stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Drive engineering excellence by establishing best practices for software quality, security, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Oversee deployment planning, release management, and production rollouts while minimizing operational risk and user disruption.
  • Lead production support efforts, including incident management, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve software development processes, methodologies, tools, and team workflows.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and quality standards applicable to healthcare technology environments.
  • Support organizational growth by contributing to technical strategy, resource planning, and long-term engineering objectives.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional software engineering experience.
  • At least 4 years of experience leading and managing software engineering teams.
  • Proven success delivering and supporting production-critical software applications in complex environments.
  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to motivate, mentor, and develop high-performing technical teams.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, stakeholder management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities with a focus on delivering scalable solutions.
  • Hands-on experience developing Angular-based web applications and Java-based web services.
  • Experience with cloud technologies and modern application frameworks, including AWS, Spring, Hibernate, and MySQL preferred.
  • Familiarity with software deployment processes, operational support, and incident management practices.
  • Experience working within regulated industries such as healthcare, medical devices, life sciences, or other compliance-driven environments preferred.
  • Knowledge of HL7 integrations, healthcare interoperability standards, or order and result workflows is considered an advantage.
  • Ability to balance technical leadership with operational execution in a fast-paced environment.
