Engineering Director, Global Capital and Process Standards

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Engineering Director, Global Capital and Process Standards based in the United States.

This senior engineering leadership role is responsible for defining and deploying global capital and process standards across a large-scale manufacturing network.
You will shape and govern technical frameworks that ensure consistency, efficiency, and operational excellence across capital projects and production systems worldwide.
The role combines strategic leadership with deep technical oversight, influencing how industrial processes, equipment, and materials are standardized and executed globally.
You will lead cross-functional engineering efforts spanning design, procurement, operations, and supplier ecosystems to drive scalable best practices.
A key focus is establishing governance for capital planning, budgeting, and execution across high-value global investment programs.
You will partner closely with operational excellence teams to identify, validate, and deploy best-in-class manufacturing standards.
This is a highly strategic, global leadership role with direct impact on industrial performance, capital efficiency, and long-term manufacturing capability.

Accountabilities:

In this role, you will define and lead global engineering standards, capital governance, and process optimization across manufacturing operations.

  • Develop and deploy global technical standards for can-making equipment, processes, utilities, and direct materials
  • Lead global subject matter experts to create and maintain engineering documentation and operational standards
  • Establish and govern standards for plant design, installation, commissioning, and operational execution across capital projects
  • Oversee capital budgeting processes, including planning, forecasting, and performance tracking for global investment portfolios
  • Manage governance frameworks for cost estimation, budget control, and capital project execution (large-scale programs)
  • Collaborate with procurement and suppliers to ensure compliance with equipment specifications and change control processes
  • Lead evaluation and deployment of process innovations, ensuring operational readiness and performance validation
  • Define global specifications and change management strategies for direct materials such as coatings, inks, and varnishes
  • Support technical licensee and regional engineering teams through guidance, coordination, and technical governance
  • Partner with operational excellence teams to identify and scale best practices across global manufacturing sites
Requirements:

This role requires extensive engineering leadership experience in global manufacturing environments, with strong expertise in capital systems, process standards, and industrial operations.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or related technical field
  • 10+ years of engineering leadership experience in industrial or manufacturing environments
  • 7+ years of experience managing global manufacturing technologies and standards
  • Strong background in capital project execution, ROI analysis, and vendor management
  • Experience developing business cases and leading large-scale investment decisions
  • Deep understanding of manufacturing systems, process engineering, and industrial equipment
  • Knowledge of procurement, contracts, accounting principles, and capital governance frameworks
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing global, cross-functional technical teams
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities across senior leadership levels
  • MBA or advanced degree is a plus
  • Experience in beverage can manufacturing or similar industrial sectors is preferred
