This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Backend Crypto Engineer – L1 based in India.
This role sits at the core of a high-performance crypto engineering team responsible for building and maintaining the infrastructure that powers secure blockchain transactions at scale. You will work on systems that integrate directly with multiple Layer-1 blockchains, enabling deposits, withdrawals, staking, and other critical crypto operations. The environment is highly technical, fast-moving, and security-critical, where protecting client funds and ensuring system reliability are top priorities. You will design and build low-latency, high-availability backend services that handle large transaction volumes across distributed systems. The role demands strong backend engineering depth combined with an understanding of blockchain primitives and cryptographic principles. You will contribute to both new system development and the continuous improvement of existing crypto infrastructure in a globally distributed engineering organization.
In this role, you will be responsible for building, maintaining, and optimizing backend systems that interact directly with blockchain networks while ensuring security, scalability, and reliability. You will:
- Design, develop, and integrate backend systems with multiple Layer-1 blockchains to support crypto operations such as deposits, withdrawals, and staking
- Build low-latency, high-availability, and highly secure distributed systems for processing high-volume financial transactions
- Develop scalable backend services with a strong focus on performance, resilience, and fault tolerance
- Write clean, reusable, testable, and efficient code following engineering best practices
- Design and optimize database schemas to support high-throughput transactional workloads
- Own, maintain, and improve existing crypto services in production environments
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure system integrity, security, and operational excellence
This role requires strong backend engineering expertise combined with a solid understanding of blockchain systems and cryptographic principles. You should bring:
- 3+ years of backend engineering experience in production systems
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript (Node.js) and/or Rust for backend development
- Solid understanding of Layer-1 blockchain architecture and general blockchain development concepts
- Good grasp of cryptographic principles and secure system design
- Experience building scalable, high-throughput distributed systems
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Temporal, and Linux-based environments
- Strong experience with Git and automated testing frameworks
- Passion for secure, privacy-focused blockchain and crypto technologies
- Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and ability to work in fast-evolving technical environments
- Strong AI tool proficiency is considered a strong plus
