JOB DESCRIPTION
The Warehouse Clerk and Material Handler controls the stockroom and moves material to where production needs it. The position stores, picks, kits, and delivers material to work orders, maintains inventory accuracy through disciplined transactions and cycle counting, and keeps the stockroom in a condition where anything can be found and trusted.
Due to the traceability requirements of CCS products, the position exercises judgment in identification, lot and shelf life control, handling of sensitive material, and the immediate reporting of any discrepancy between physical material and the system.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Material Storage and Control:
- Put away received material to the correct location and record the transaction so that the system location matches the physical location.
- Maintain part identification, lot and serial traceability, and first in first out rotation on all material.
- Manage shelf life controlled material and remove expired material from available inventory before it can reach a work order.
- Handle ESD sensitive and delicate components using the required protective practices.
Picking, Kitting and Delivery:
- Pick and kit material to work orders complete and on time, verifying part, revision, and quantity against the bill of material.
- Report shortages at the time of kitting rather than delivering an incomplete kit to the floor.
- Deliver material to production, machining, and assembly areas on the schedule the floor needs it.
- Process material returns from the floor and restock accurately.
Inventory Accuracy:
- Perform cycle counts on the assigned schedule, research variances, and report root causes rather than only adjusting the number.
- Complete every MRP transaction at the time of the physical move so that inventory data is accurate in real time.
- Support physical inventory and inventory reconciliation activity.
- Identify excess, obsolete, and unidentified material and route it for disposition.
Housekeeping, Safety and Compliance:
- Maintain the stockroom, staging areas, and aisles in ordered, labeled, and 5S condition.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other powered equipment safely and only with current certification.
- Follow all AS9100 and ISO 9001 procedures, work instructions, and revision controls applicable to material handling.
- Comply with ITAR and export control requirements and all safety and personal protective equipment requirements.
COMPETENCIES
The ten competencies below define successful performance in this position.
- Inventory Accuracy Ownership. Treats system accuracy as part of the job, transacts at the time of the move, and researches variances rather than absorbing them.
- Picking and Kitting Accuracy. Delivers the right part, revision, and quantity to the right work order, and flags shortages before the kit reaches the floor.
- Material Identification and Traceability. Maintains identification, lot control, shelf life, and FIFO discipline without exception.
- Stockroom Organization. Keeps locations labeled, ordered, and findable so that anyone can locate material without help.
- Responsiveness to Production. Gets material to the floor on the timing production actually needs, and communicates when that is at risk.
- Attention to Detail. Catches the wrong revision, the damaged part, and the count that does not match before it moves downstream.
- Attendance. Is present, on time, and ready to work as scheduled. Follows call-in and time reporting requirements and manages planned time off so that commitments to the team and the customer are not put at risk.
- Culture. Lives the CCS values in daily work. Treats people with respect, communicates directly and without gossip, supports decisions once they are made, and contributes to an environment where people can do their best work.
- Safety. Works safely and protects others. Follows all safety rules, procedures, and personal protective equipment requirements, reports hazards, incidents, and near misses immediately, and does not take shortcuts under pressure.
- Compliance. Follows CCS policies, procedures, and the requirements of the quality and export control systems that govern the work. Completes required training, keeps accurate records, and raises concerns rather than working around a requirement.
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Must be a US Person as defined by ITAR (22 CFR 120.15) due to the export controlled nature of CCS products and technical data.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- One or more years of warehouse, stockroom, or material handling experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience with MRP inventory transactions and cycle counting.
- Forklift certification required or the ability to obtain it within 30 days of hire.
- Ability to read and interpret bills of material, pick lists, part numbers, and revision levels.
- Basic shop math and counting accuracy.
- Experience in an AS9100 or ISO 9001 environment preferred.
- Basic computer skills including email and handheld scanning equipment.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and to stand and move throughout the shift.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, carry, climb, bend, reach, turn, twist, push, and pull, talk or hear, and move within the areas of the facilities, warehouse, dock and parking lots. The employee frequently lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds and occasionally moves heavier material with the assistance of a forklift, pallet jack, or another person. The employee works on and around powered industrial equipment and stands on concrete surfaces for extended periods. A computer and handheld scanning equipment are used to access, input, and retrieve data.
