Job Title: Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager
Location: Omaha, NE
Reporting To: Chief Operating Officer
Position Overview
88 Tactical is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced accounting professional to oversee the day-to-day accounting operations of our organization. This hands-on role is responsible for managing the full accounting cycle, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring the integrity of the company's financial processes.
Reporting directly to the COO, the Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager serves as the primary accounting resource for the organization and plays a key role in supporting efficient business operations through accurate reporting, strong financial controls, and proactive problem-solving.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance.
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and reports for leadership.
- Perform monthly bank, credit card, and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records.
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes.
- Monitor cash flow, cash activity, and overall financial performance of the organization.
- Prepare and file sales tax returns and other required regulatory filings.
- Maintain fixed asset records and related accounting documentation.
- Support the organization's relationships with external auditors, tax professionals, and financial institutions by providing requested financial information and documentation.
- Research and resolve accounting discrepancies, account variances, and reporting issues.
- Develop, maintain, and improve accounting procedures and internal controls to support operational efficiency and financial accuracy.
- Serve as a key financial resource to leadership by providing reporting, analysis, and recommendations to support business decisions.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial information and company records.
- Perform other accounting and finance-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
- Minimum of three years of accounting experience required
- Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software systems
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
