Job Description

Director of Business Technology (f/m/d)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director of Business Technology (f/m/d) based in Spain.

Lead the technology function of an international fashion and lifestyle business with a modern enterprise technology foundation.
You will shape technology strategy, guide major transformation initiatives, and ensure technology investments deliver measurable business value.
The role spans enterprise applications, cloud infrastructure, e-commerce, data, analytics, AI, architecture, and technology operations.
You will oversee a diverse application landscape while driving key initiatives across ERP, product management, e-commerce, and digital platforms.
Working with teams and partners across multiple countries, you will balance strategic direction with pragmatic execution and delivery.
Your leadership will help build scalable technology capabilities, optimize investment, and strengthen collaboration across the organization.
This is a high-impact opportunity for an experienced technology leader who combines strong technical judgment with commercial thinking and a hands-on approach to transformation.

Accountabilities
  • Define and lead the overall technology strategy, translating business challenges into pragmatic technology solutions and recommendations.
  • Own and continuously evolve the IT roadmap, prioritizing initiatives according to business value, risk, cost, and strategic objectives.
  • Maintain a coherent enterprise architecture and proactively manage technical debt and architectural complexity.
  • Oversee the enterprise application portfolio, including SAP S/4HANA, e-commerce platforms, product information management, digital asset management, integration middleware, and future systems such as PDM/PLM and CRM.
  • Lead near-term technology priorities, including stabilizing the ERP environment, selecting and implementing a new PDM/PLM solution, and strengthening B2B and D2C e-commerce capabilities.
  • Ensure technology projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Lead the Data, Analytics & AI function, including business intelligence, data engineering, and master data coordination.
  • Guide analytics teams in identifying valuable use cases, selecting appropriate tools, and developing future capabilities.
  • Identify and implement practical, high-impact AI opportunities using a pragmatic, ROI-focused approach.
  • Manage external technology vendors, service providers, and delivery partners within a multi-vendor, best-of-breed operating model.
  • Lead vendor selection, contract negotiations, renewals, commercial terms, and ongoing performance management.
  • Own the IT budget and ensure disciplined management of operating and capital expenditure, with clear visibility into costs and returns.
  • Lead and develop geographically distributed teams across multiple locations and time zones, including internal teams, offshore resources, and external partners.
  • Coach team leads, strengthen organizational capabilities, and foster a lean, adaptable culture focused on pragmatic delivery and strong business partnership.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in technology or IT roles, including at least 3–5 years in senior technology leadership positions managing cross-functional teams.
  • Proven experience leading distributed international teams across multiple locations and time zones, including offshore resources and external delivery partners.
  • Strong strategic and advisory capabilities, with the ability to challenge assumptions, assess alternatives, and recommend the right technology approach rather than simply executing predefined plans.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex enterprise application portfolios, ideally spanning ERP, e-commerce, product management, and related business systems.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise technology architecture and experience maintaining scalable, coherent application landscapes.
  • Proven experience with enterprise platforms such as SAP S/4HANA and familiarity with modern e-commerce, PIM, DAM, integration, and cloud technologies.
  • Strong vendor and partner management skills within multi-vendor technology environments, including selection, negotiation, contract management, and performance oversight.
  • Experience owning and managing an IT budget in the single-digit millions of euros.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to connect technology decisions with commercial outcomes, operational efficiency, risk, and ROI.
  • Experience leading data, analytics, and ideally AI initiatives, with a pragmatic approach to identifying and implementing high-value use cases.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills.
  • Comfortable operating in an international, collaborative environment with multiple teams, cultures, locations, and time zones.
  • Pragmatic, entrepreneurial, and solutions-oriented mindset, with the ability to balance strategic thinking and operational execution.
  • Willingness to maintain a regular presence at the technology hub in Romania while working primarily remotely from Germany.
Benefits
  • Full-time, permanent position with remote-work flexibility.
  • Flexible working hours and location.
  • Opportunity to lead a broad and strategically important technology function within an international organization.
  • Diverse and challenging responsibilities spanning enterprise applications, e-commerce, data, analytics, AI, architecture, and technology transformation.
  • Collaborative and supportive international working environment.
  • Flat organizational structure with short decision-making paths and the opportunity to implement your own ideas.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development.
  • Corporate benefits program.
  • Regular employee events and opportunities to connect with colleagues.
  • Discounts on company products.
  • Opportunity to work with international teams and technology partners across multiple locations.
