Mickey Truck Bodies – Bloomington IL
Full-Time | Monday–Friday 7:30 am to 4:30 pm

Pay

Competitive Bi-Weekly Pay $17- $22 per hour
Plus Bi-Weekly Productivity & Performance Bonus


Mickey Truck Bodies in Bloomington IL is seeking an EXPERIENCED and skilled Autobody Painter with a great work ethic to join our IL Reconditioning Team. This position plays a key role in delivering the high-quality truck bodies and trailer repairs our customers expect. The innovative product line-up is prevalent in industries such as food & beverage, vending, propane, rental trucks, emergency & rescue, battery, oil & natural gas, and data storage.

About the Role

The Autobody Painter is responsible for preparing, priming, and painting truck bodies, trailers, and components according to company quality and safety standards. You will ensure all finished surfaces meet durability, appearance, and performance expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare surfaces through sanding, masking, cleaning, and priming

  • Mix and match paint colors for accurate finish results

  • Apply paint coatings using spray guns (HVLP)

  • Inspect and correct defects such as sags, runs, or thin spots

  • Follow all safety, environmental, and material-handling procedures

  • Maintain spray guns, paint booths, and equipment

  • Apply undercoats, sealers, and topcoats to various surfaces (metal, fiberglass, composites)

  • Work with production teams to meet job timelines

  • Record paint usage, color codes, and job details

  • Perform touch-ups and final finish repairs

QualificationsRequired
  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum 2 years of autobody or industrial painting experience

  • Strong knowledge of paint prep, application techniques, and materials

  • Experience with HVLP spray equipment

  • Ability to recognize and correct finish defects

Preferred
  • Experience painting truck bodies or trailers

  • Technical/vocational training in paint application

Skills & Competencies
  • Excellent attention to detail and craftsmanship

  • Strong color-matching ability

  • Understanding of OSHA/EPA safety practices

  • Ability to work independently and on a team

  • Dependable, punctual, and organized


Work Environment

    Manufacturing/shop environmentPaint booth and shop settingExposure to noise, metal dust, insulation materials, fumes, and moving machineryRequired use of PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators, gloves, and protective clothingRegular standing, walking, bending, and lifting
