This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Lead Product Engineer based in United States.

As a Lead Product Engineer, you will bridge the gap between product concepts and operational mission applications, guiding software solutions through the full product lifecycle.
You will design, build, test, and refine production software with a strong focus on reliability, performance, usability, and maintainability.
Working closely with product teams, platform engineers, mission engineers, and system architects, you will turn user needs into effective technical solutions.
The role combines hands-on software engineering with technical judgment, issue resolution, and continuous product improvement.
You will help teams move quickly from prototypes to scalable production capabilities while balancing user experience with engineering constraints.
This position offers the opportunity to contribute to advanced technology supporting defense, intelligence, and national security missions.
You will work in a flexible hybrid environment with the autonomy to work remotely when your responsibilities do not require access to company facilities.

Accountabilities:
  • Own software solutions that address operational problems and deliver meaningful outcomes for end users.
  • Design, build, test, and refine production software features with an emphasis on simplicity, reliability, durability, workflow supportability, and user experience.
  • Bridge the gap between early concepts and production-ready solutions by selecting efficient approaches for rapidly developing and scaling software.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues, identify root causes, and drive timely resolutions that improve user outcomes and product reliability.
  • Partner with product teams and end users to translate customer needs into effective features while balancing usability with engineering constraints.
  • Collaborate across product, platform, mission engineering, and architecture teams to align software functionality, user experience, and enabling technologies.
  • Maintain high-integrity commitments and deliver viable solutions on timelines aligned with customer and business needs.
  • Contribute effectively in a fast-paced environment to support successful program and contract execution.
  • Promote strong collaboration and constructive technical decision-making across multidisciplinary teams.

Requirements:

  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, with at least 5 years of professional experience.
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining high-quality production software features.
  • Strong proficiency with modern technologies such as React, TypeScript, and Python.
  • Strong interest in creating user-centric interfaces with a keen eye for usability and design details.
  • Knowledge of performance-focused techniques for rendering large datasets and building responsive, smooth user interfaces.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and adopt new programming languages, libraries, frameworks, and technologies.
  • Organized and detail-oriented approach, with the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders who have varying levels of technical expertise.
  • An active security clearance is preferred.
  • An advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline is preferred.
  • Experience building production or enterprise-scale applications is preferred.
  • Experience using visual design tools to communicate product and interface concepts is preferred.
  • Familiarity with software development best practices and AI-powered development tools is preferred.
  • Proximity to offices in Carlsbad, CA; Arlington, VA; Woburn, MA; Denver, CO; or Honolulu, HI is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel, potentially up to one week per month, may be required.

Benefits:

  • Full-time salary range of $180,000–$220,000 USD.
  • Flexible hybrid work environment with remote work available when responsibilities do not require access to company facilities.
  • Opportunities to work on advanced technology supporting defense, intelligence, and national security missions.
  • Collaborative, multidisciplinary environment focused on deep technical learning and innovation.
  • Opportunities to contribute to challenging projects with meaningful real-world impact.
  • Potential career growth within a growing technology and research organization.
