Position: Licensed Practical Nurse / Medical Assistant

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Scribe for the provider
• Completes training program for procedures and clinical documentation
• Assisting the provider during dermatologic visits
• Giving injections
• Assisting with surgical procedures
• Functioning independently to perform minor procedures
• Notifying patients of test results
• Addressing medication needs
• Completing prior authorizations for medications
• Sets up and assists with MOHS, PDT, Wide Excisions, I&D and other procedures
• Performs and documents suture removals
• Prepares and administers injections, including numbing skin
• Prepares patients for PDT and documents treatment as ordered
• Courteously notifies patients of lab and pathology results with provider instructions
• Returns patient/family phone calls to providers answering questions and giving re-assurance
• Other duties as directed

• Provides patient care by collecting, monitoring, and reporting information and responding to basic needs
• Promotes patient engagement by considering specific needs, values and preferences
• Accurately and completely documents patient information and nursing care in the patient’s medical record
• Promotes continuity of care by reporting activities, incidences, and changing patient needs to the next caregiver
• Demonstrates infection prevention behaviors, consistent handwashing and use of appropriate PPEs
• Adheres to safe medication administration while preparing, administering, documenting and monitoring meds
• Recognizes safety risk and implements prevention of risks of falls, skin breakdown and injury
• Contributes to the department’s performance improvement activities

Interaction Skills

• Effectively communicate verbally and in writing; Ability to provide instructions and education

• Current LPN license by the Mississippi Board of Nursing

• Medical Assisting certification or relevant experience.
• Must be able to read, write, and understand written and verbal communication.
