About This Position
8 Irving is a 23 bed Labor and Delivery unit in the Kienzle Family Maternity Center. Perinatal nurses provide patient and family centered care and assist in all aspects of deliver including triage, labor, delivery, recovery, cesarean section delivery, in the on-unit surgical suite, and PACU. A number of birthing options are available to low risk women including whirlpool tubs, ambulatory monitoring, squatting bars, and birthing balls. Common procedures performed on the unit are antenatal diagnostic testing, and medical treatment of complications of pregnancy.
A Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for the planning, implementing and evaluation of care for a given patient population with the established standards and practices of Crouse Hospital. This process is enacted through direct clinical practice, management of patient care and general professional duties.
Education/Experience Requirements
Required:
- Graduate of an accredited associate degree
*Must complete NCLEX within 120 days.
Preferred:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing from accredited nursing program or higher degree
*Bachelor’s degree required within 8 years of being hired or those licensed after 2017.
Licensure/Certification Requirements
Required:
- Current New York State licensure as a Registered Nurse
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) at end of orientation
Preferred:
- Certification in a specialty area.
Critical Care Nursing
- PALS required within one year
- ACLS required within one year
