About This Position

SUMMARY

Responsible for maintaining production schedule, verifying material requirements/availability, and ensuring customer needs are met. This position is also responsible for forecast creation and entry, work center capacity planning, inventory management for WIP and raw materials, and purchasing activities to support production requirements. This position may require overtime on occasion.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Production Scheduling / Planning

· Accurately produce and maintain production schedule according to sales forecasts or customer orders to ensure on-time shipments.

· Establish and maintain production lead times for each operation.

· Revise production schedule to ensure changes to jobs/orders are visible and accurate (due dates, quantity, additional operations, tooling availability, etc.).

· Release production jobs according to schedule, create production floor travelers and pick lists.

· Review released job status and audit all completed job orders prior to closing.

· Meet with department supervisors to determine the status of assigned projects in daily production meetings.

· Prepare production reports including job order status, production capacity, backlog review, etc.

· Respond to customer (sales) inquiries and expedite production orders.

Forecasting / Demand Planning

· Create, maintain, and enter customer forecasts into the ERP/MRP system to support production planning and purchasing activities.

· Review forecast accuracy and trends and adjust planning assumptions as required to support on-time delivery and capacity needs.

· Coordinate with Sales and internal stakeholders to validate forecast changes, new demand, and priority shifts.

Work Center Capacity Planning

· Perform work center capacity planning to ensure machine and labor resources align with production requirements.

· Identify capacity constraints and coordinate schedule adjustments with department supervisors to support customer due dates.

· Maintain and update work center scheduling assumptions including run rates, labor standards, and lead times as needed.

Material Requirements / Inventory Management

· Check availability of material for released jobs and revise production and outside service schedules as needed.

· Monitor and manage inventory levels for raw materials and WIP to support production schedules and customer shipment requirements.

· Work with production, inventory control, and receiving to ensure timely movement, accurate reporting, and visibility of WIP status.

· Assist with month-end closing procedures for inventory and WIP.

Purchasing / Strategic Purchasing

· Purchase raw materials, components, and outside services required to support production schedules and customer delivery requirements.

· Execute strategic purchasing activities including supplier selection support, lead time planning, cost improvement efforts, and supplier performance tracking.

· Create and process purchase orders (POs) in the ERP/MRP system and ensure timely follow-up on open orders.

· Expedite late materials and outside processing orders; communicate shortages or delays to production, sales, and leadership.

· Work with suppliers to resolve issues related to delivery performance, quality concerns, pricing, and order discrepancies.

· Support continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory turns, material availability, and supplier on-time delivery.

Other Duties

· Assist with creation of misc. job orders including internal production rework, toolroom die repairs, etc.

· Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is a team lead position with one or two teammates.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

· Strong mathematical skills with high attention to detail.

· Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to balance multiple priorities.

· Ability to work effectively in a team environment, collaborating with others inside and outside of the production department.

· Experience with Made2Manage a plus.
