Middle and High School English Language Arts Teacher at Islamic Foundation School – Villa Park, Illinois

The Middle and High School English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher is responsible for delivering dynamic, engaging, and standards-aligned instruction in reading, writing, and literature. The teacher will promote critical thinking, creativity, and effective communication skills while fostering a love for language and literature among students.

The ideal candidate will create a structured yet motivating classroom environment that encourages inquiry, collaboration, and academic achievement.

• Plan and deliver interactive lessons in reading comprehension, literary analysis, writing skills, and language conventions.
• Prepare students for advanced coursework and assessments, including AP English Language and Composition and AP English Literature and Composition (if applicable).
• Develop lesson plans aligned with state standards and/or College Board frameworks.
• Integrate a diverse range of literary texts, covering various genres and cultural perspectives.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners and promote inclusive practices.
• Utilize formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress and inform instruction.
• Incorporate technology and multimedia resources to enhance learning and engagement.

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• Valid state teaching certification (preferred).
• Experience teaching middle and high school English Language Arts (including literature and writing).
• Experience preparing students for AP English exams (preferred).
• Strong content knowledge in literary theory, composition, and grammar.
• Exceptional ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively.
• Strong classroom management skills.
• Proficiency with educational technology and online learning platforms.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• AP English certification or College Board training is a plus.
• Experience with differentiated instruction and supporting diverse learners is preferred.
