POSITION: 21st Century Community Learning Center Director @ Lower East Side Prep

DEPARTMENT: Youth Services

PROGRAM: 21st Century Community Learning Center

REPORTS TO: Manhattan Program Supervisor

SALARY: $70,000-75,000 annually

LOCATION: Manhattan- LES

SCHEDULE: School Year: Monday – Friday; 10 am – 6 pm, some evenings.

DATE: April, 2026

JOB SUMMARY: The 21st Century Community Learning Center Community School Director in collaboration with the school for in-school and out of school time programming to meet the needs of the participants and school. In addition, the 21st CCLC Director is responsible for the supervision of the program and staff.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • At least five years of experience coordinating and/or developing adolescent services and programming in an urban environment and high school setting.
  • Experience with program coordination, management & supervision of team of staff, budget & program management, event planning, resource connection, referral coordination with various youth age groups
  • Experience managing, implementing and coordinating youth service programs in a DOE school building and in partnership with DOE Leadership (Principals, APs, Parent Coordinators, etc.)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain State Central Registry (SCR) clearance- $25 nonrefundable fee required and fingerprint clearance throughout the duration of employment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the school administration and school leadership team
  • Ability to engage, build relationships, and demonstrate empathy with adolescents
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and responsibilities
  • Capacity to work independently and collaboratively with staff members
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure
  • Familiar with Socio-Emotional and Trauma-Informed practices
  • Must be an outstanding strategic thinker
  • Diverse cultural competence is a must
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish/English preferred

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

A. Program Development

  • Organize Community School Team
  • Act as a lead to coordinate with the School, other CBO partners, and City agencies around data driven decision making progress towards agreed-upon outcomes
  • Participates in the development and direct implementation of the Community School Plan while adhering to principal and School Leadership Team
  • Assists in developing and carrying out parent and community engagement efforts
  • Participate in ongoing efforts to advocate for program needs via community coalition building and via administering feedback surveys and program assessments
  • Participates in regular CSD peer forums organized by the Department of Education’s Office of Community Schools
  • Managing & monitoring all activity specialists for expanded learning and enrichment activities. Work with lead evaluation team to assess program effectiveness and impact
  • Serves as the on-site supervisor and arrange programming to align with instruction and added instructional hours at the school
  • Manage multiple program contracts to ensure deliverables are met, ie. Advantage after school program

Administrative:

  • Ensure attendance tracking and reporting meets contractual requirements regarding enrollment and attendance.
  • Respond to all electronic and phone communication within 2 business days
  • Prepare a monthly calendar of events, programs, meetings, and activities.
  • Create a budget plan that supports program needs and ensure timely spending.
  • Collaborate on cross-borough and agency/ department wide events and strategic planning efforts
  • Identify and build relationships with key service providers needed to best support students and families.
  • Participate in weekly team meetings and weekly individual supervision
  • Communicate with school personnel and administration, as well as participate in meetings
