Build Smarter Supply Chains That Drive Real Business Impact
This is not a transactional buying role. This is about owning sourcing strategy, improving supplier performance, and making decisions that directly impact cost, delivery, and revenue execution.
If you’re someone who thrives in fast-moving environments, enjoys negotiating and solving supply challenges, and wants to play a key role in scaling procurement operations, this is your seat at the table.
About the Role
The Strategic Sourcing Buyer is responsible for managing sourcing activities across key categories, supporting RFQs, supplier negotiations, and vendor performance. You’ll work closely with Sales, Operations, and Finance to ensure materials and services are sourced efficiently, competitively, and reliably.
This role requires strong commercial judgment, urgency, and the ability to balance cost, lead time, and operational impact. You’ll help move the team from reactive purchasing to proactive, strategic sourcing.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage end-to-end sourcing activities including RFQs, supplier selection, and negotiations
• Evaluate suppliers across cost, quality, delivery, and performance metrics
• Develop and maintain relationships with OEM, OE, aftermarket, and remanufactured part suppliers
• Identify and qualify alternative suppliers to reduce risk and improve supply continuity
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and agreements to improve margin and supplier performance
• Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, and Finance to align sourcing priorities
• Monitor supplier performance and drive accountability for on-time delivery and quality
• Support category management and sourcing strategies for key spend areas
• Analyze sourcing data and provide insights to support decision-making
• Proactively identify risks related to lead times, single-source dependencies, and supply constraints
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted
• 3+ years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or supply chain roles
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance cost, lead time, and business impact
• Experience managing RFQs and supplier negotiations
• Proven ability to identify and develop alternative sourcing strategies
• Strong negotiation skills with measurable impact on pricing and supplier performance
• Experience managing supplier relationships and performance metrics
• Strong problem-solving skills in fast-paced, non-standard environments
• Proficiency in Excel; experience with ERP systems (Infor SyteLine or similar is a plus)
• Ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders
Desired Skills
• Experience in marine, power generation, or industrial MRO environments
• Experience sourcing OEM, OE/OES, aftermarket, or remanufactured components
• Experience managing complex RFQs for engineered or technical components
• Exposure to supplier performance management frameworks (KPIs, scorecards)
• Experience conducting supplier business reviews and driving corrective actions
• Familiarity with Power BI or advanced data analysis tools
