Position Summary
The Front Cashier is the first point of contact for guests and plays a critical role in creating a welcoming, efficient, and positive experience. This position is responsible for order taking, accurate cash handling, guest interaction, and maintaining high standards of hospitality, cleanliness, and communication. The Front Cashier supports the front-of-house team by delivering friendly service with “polite urgency,” ensuring the dining experience aligns with Duck Stop’s standards.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Service & Hospitality
- Greet every guest with eye contact, a smile, and a friendly hello.
- Maintain a warm, positive, and pleasant attitude at all times.
- Practice polite urgency to ensure guests receive fast and friendly service.
- Upsell by offering desserts or add-ons to every guest.
- End each interaction with a sincere thank you and invite the guest to return.
Order Taking & Cash Handling
- Count in the till at the start of the shift to verify the correct amount of cash.
- Handle cash, cards, and transactions accurately and responsibly.
- Have complete knowledge of the full menu to answer questions and help guests make selections.
- Call out “Flying in Front!” to alert the team when guests begin to line up
Safety, Sanitation & Appearance
- Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures, including proper handwashing.
- Maintain a professional and complete uniform at all times.
- Ensure the cashier area is kept clean, safe, and organized
Teamwork & Communication
- Communicate clearly and effectively with teammates and leadership.
- Support the stations to the left and right by assisting when needed.
- Work collaboratively to maintain smooth flow during busy periods.
Station Cleanliness & Stocking
- Maintain an NCO workstation (Neat, Clean, and Organized).
- Keep the cashier area stocked with necessary supplies (bags, napkins, cups, utensils, etc.).
- Ensure the entire station is cleaned, organized, and fully stocked before shift end.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Positive and friendly attitude.
- Ability to work with urgency in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic math and cash-handling ability.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Previous cashier or customer service experience preferred but not required.
