Job SummaryThis is a one-year, funded, part-time position designed to support a research team studying how social vulnerability and rural-urban contexts influence substance use among adult cancer survivors. Research areas relevant to this position include social epidemiology, cancer survivorship, substance use and addiction, and health disparities. The student in this role will work closely with faculty on this project as well as related, complementary research, all of which use an epidemiological, population-based, secondary data analysis approach. Primary responsibilities will include supporting research activities such as data analysis and interpretation of findings, and—importantly—leading and assisting in the development of scholarly products (e.g., presentations, abstracts, and peer-reviewed manuscripts). In addition, the student may have opportunities for professional development through networking, enrichment activities (e.g., speaker series and workshops), and exposure to grantsmanship.Skills / Knowledge / AbilitiesProfessional demeanor and conduct; strong attention to detail; conscientious and dependable work ethic; excellent oral and written communication skills; strong organizational and time-management skills; and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
