About This Position
Position Summary
The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day operations of the Dallas yard, including emergency response readiness, industrial cleaning operations, hazardous waste handling, and equipment management. This role ensures safe, compliant, and efficient execution of field and yard activities while driving operational performance, employee development, and customer satisfaction.
Building on technician-level responsibilities such as emergency response, waste handling, and equipment operations, this position provides leadership, strategic direction, and accountability for all site operations.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Field Execution
- Oversee daily yard and field operations including emergency response, industrial tank cleaning, and environmental services
- Ensure proper handling, staging, profiling, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials
- Direct spill response, site remediation, and biohazard cleanup activities
- Ensure all jobs are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards
- Maintain 24/7 operational readiness for emergency response situations, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce all OSHA, EPA, DOT, and company safety policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with HAZWOPER and all regulatory requirements for hazardous waste operations
- Lead safety meetings, audits, and incident investigations
- Ensure proper use of PPE, confined space protocols, and respiratory protection
- Maintain accurate operational logs and regulatory documentation
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, coach, and develop supervisors, drivers, and field technicians
- Manage staffing, scheduling, and workforce planning for both yard and field operations
- Foster a high-performance, safety-first culture in a physically demanding work environment
- Support recruiting, onboarding, and ongoing training (HAZWOPER, OSHA, etc.)
Equipment & Asset Management
- Oversee maintenance, availability, and proper use of operational equipment
- Ensure readiness of vacuum units, tank cleaning equipment, and emergency response tools
- Manage inventory of supplies, PPE, and critical operational materials
Financial & Performance Management
- Own site-level P&L, budgeting, and cost control
- Monitor KPIs including utilization, revenue per job, labor efficiency, and safety metrics
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and profitability
Customer & Business Support
- Partner with sales and dispatch to ensure high-quality service delivery
- Serve as escalation point for customer issues and emergency response coordination
- Support business growth through operational excellence and client retention
Qualifications
Required
- 5–10+ years of experience in environmental services, industrial services, or hazardous waste operations
- 3+ years of leadership experience managing field operations or a service yard
- Strong knowledge of hazardous materials handling, emergency response, and industrial cleaning
- Experience managing safety programs and regulatory compliance (OSHA, EPA, DOT)
- Ability to lead teams in physically demanding and high-risk environments
Preferred
- HAZWOPER 40-hour certification (or ability to obtain)
- Confined Space Entry/Rescue certification
- OSHA 10/30 certification
Work Environment
- Combination of yard, field, and office environments
- Exposure to hazardous and non-hazardous materials, outdoor conditions, and physically demanding work
- On-call availability required for emergency response operations
- Travel up to ~25% depending on business needs
