Job Title: Activity Assistant

Summary

Activity Assistant ensures the quality of activity programs is delivered. The activities program is designed to encourage socialization, relaxation, recreation, physical activity, and entertainment that is resident centered.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

include the following. Other duties may be assigned and in no way states or implies that these are the only duties you will be required to perform.

· Activities assistants plan and facilitate social and recreational events to promote continued wellness

· Professional activities assistants have understanding of the in the cognitive and physical needs of the elderly population.

· Provide varied activities that are appropriate for our group’s age and abilities

· Activities assistants also complete some administrative duties including ordering supplies and creating newsletters or schedules along with the Director.

· The Federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has specific reporting and documentation requirements

· Demonstrates ability to handle emergency situations in a prompt, precise and professional manner.

· Demonstrates compliance with infection prevention and control practices in a healthcare setting as per CDC Guidance

· Ensures rights of the residents, dignity, privacy and confidentiality are maintained

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to execute each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. · Ability to verbally communicate with residents and staff.

· Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.

· Ability to calculate figures, and amounts such as proportions and percentages.

· Displays professional conduct with Sisters, staff, and the general public.

· Shows concern and respect for others by dealing with people in a collaborative, compassionate, sensitive, and responsive manner.

· Sets a favorable example as a team player assisting others and working

Education and/or Experience

· High school diploma or GED certificate required

· AS or Bachelors Degree preferred

· Certification through the NCCAP preferred

· Flexible schedule

ADA Requirements

Candidates will have the physical ability to perform job related duties which may require lifting, bending, stooping, stretching, pulling and pushing up to 50 lbs or more as needed

Prerequisites

A physical exam, drug screen, and background screening are required as appropriate.

St Catherine of Siena Inc., minimum requirement is its employees to be “fully vaccinated” defined as received the Covid-19 vaccine primary series. The preferred standard of “Up to date” is completed primary vaccine series plus the most recent booster recommended by CDC.
