Job Description

Pre-operative care: Conduct history and physical exams, order and interpret diagnostic/lab tests, and develop individualized care plans

Surgical assistance: First-assist in open-heart and cardiac surgical procedures in the operating room under direct surgeon supervision

Procedural skills: Perform surgical and clinic-based procedures under direct or indirect supervision

Inpatient management: Round on patients, assist in wound care, provide consultations, and manage postoperative care

Prescribing: Write prescriptions, including controlled substances, per privileges and regulations

On-call coverage: Provide high-level decision-making coverage on weekdays, evenings, and weekends as needed

Interdisciplinary collaboration: Work with staff, patients, and families to ensure quality care across the continuum
-
Education: Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies

Certifications: National PA Certification (NCCPA), Tennessee PA License (active), DEA License, BLS and ACLS certifications
-
Experience: Minimum 5 years as an Advanced Practice Provider; experience in vein harvesting preferred

Credentials: Must meet all medical staff credentialing and privileges requirements

Compliance: Maintain licensure and complete required CEU/CME requirements
