This position plays a critical leadership role in ensuring high-quality installation of roadway lighting, ITS, signing, signalization, and tolling systems in accordance with FDOT standards and customer specifications.The Superintendent will be responsible for managing field crews, maintaining safety compliance, monitoring productivity, coordinating schedules, and ensuring accurate as‑built documentation throughout all phases of construction.Key Responsibilities Field Leadership & Workforce ManagementLead, manage, train, and supervise field crews performing roadway electrical and transportation systems work.Coordinate daily and weekly crew schedules with management to meet project timelines and production goals.Provide ongoing performance feedback, mentorship, and direction to crews.Ensure all personnel follow corporate safety policies, site-specific safety plans, and FDOT safety requirements.Project Execution & Installation OversightOversee installation of roadway electrical systems, lighting, ITS devices, tolling infrastructure, signing, and traffic signal components.Maintain a complete and accurate set of as-built drawings for supervised projects.Ensure field work adheres to FDOT construction standards, specifications, and approved design plans.Review construction drawings with management to verify accuracy and identify any design or field conflicts.Assist in preparing field change orders and communicating required adjustments to project management.Production Tracking & DocumentationApprove, verify, and submit daily field timesheets for assigned crews.Track and verify daily/weekly production quantities and assist with project progress reporting.Support management with production analysis to forecast schedules and labor requirements.Communication & CoordinationParticipate in project meetings with management, engineers, subcontractors, inspectors, and clients.Communicate field updates, safety concerns, delays, or material issues promptly.Serve as the field point-of-contact for construction emergencies; must be available on-call as required.Equipment OperationOperate specialty electrical construction equipment when needed (bucket trucks, augers, trenchers, lifts, etc.).Maintain CDL Class A license and ensure compliance with DOT driving requirements.Required QualificationsPrevious field leadership experience in electrical construction, roadway electrical, or transportation infrastructure.Knowledge of electrical schematics, blueprints, control diagrams, and construction manuals.Hands-on experience with electrical equipment, tools, and installation practices.Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and critical-thinking abilities.CDL Class A required (or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe).Technical Expertise RequiredExcellent knowledge of:FDOT roadway lighting systemsIntelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)Signing and traffic signalizationTolling systems (hardware, communication, and power components)Roadway electrical codes, standards, and FDOT specificationsPreferred QualificationsPrior experience supervising FDOT or municipal transportation electrical projectsExperience coordinating with DOT inspectors, MOT teams, and roadway contractorsExperience with tolling infrastructure installation (cabinets, gantries, sensors, communications)Strong computer skills for documentation, production tracking, and digital as-builtsWork EnvironmentPrimarily field-based role across Tampa and surrounding areasRequires regular travel to job sites, night work, and emergency response availabilityFast-paced, safety-driven work environmentCollaboration with project managers, engineers, electricians, subcontractors, and DOT representativesCompensation & BenefitsHealthcare plan through local unionRetirement plan through local unionVacation benefitsSign-on bonus availableCompany-issued laptopCompany pickup truckPhone allowanceCompany fuel cardWhy Join Conti Corporation?At Conti, you will lead impactful roadway and transportation electrical projects that keep Florida’s infrastructure operating safely and efficiently.
