1.0 SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Applies basic skills, knowledge and appropriate processes to lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, and industrial production and processing systems by following blueprints and specifications.
2.0 REPORTS TO / SUPERVISES
Reports To: Assigned Foreman

3.0 RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will have the following general/minimum responsibilities:
* Cut, thread and hammer pipe to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threaders and benders.
* Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings and related equipment, according to specifications, by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering and threading joints.
* Attach pipes to structures and fixtures using brackets, clamps, tools or welding equipment.
* Inspect, examine, and test installed systems and pipe lines, using pressure gauge, hydrostatic testing, observation and other methods.
* Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading.
* Plan pipe system layout, installation or repair according to specifications.
* Select pipe sizes and types and related materials such as supports, hangers and hydraulic cylinders according to specifications.
* Practice good housekeeping skills and properly disposes of waste according to safety and environmental policies.
* Understand and follow safety policies and procedures.
4.0 EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE
The following education, experience and knowledge are preferred for this position:
* Two to four years of pipe fitting experience and/or demonstrated ability to perform basic skills according to testing requirements.
* Must have verbal skills with fluency for the responsibilities assigned.
5.0 WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
* Exposure to possible shop hazards including but not limited to welding fumes, heat, flash burns, skin burns, high noise level and eye injuries from welding arc and grinders. Spends 100% of time in shop.
* Perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs. Walking, climbing, bending, stooping, and heavy lifting, pushing and pulling while handling material not exceeding forty five pounds.
