The Environmental Charter School has an immediate need for a Building-Based Substitute Teacher. Successful candidates must be progressive-minded and embody a can-do spirit and work ethic. For best consideration, candidates should possess relevant teaching experience, a demonstrated track record of success in developing and implementing strategies to meet the needs of students with a variety of learning needs, and a “whatever it takes” attitude to ensure that all students succeed at a high level.

OVERVIEW
The Building-Based Substitute Teacher will be assigned to a designated school. ECS substitute teachers must have strong teaching abilities, an understanding of pedagogy and instructional practices in their respective field of education, and a strong interest in environmental studies. ECS teachers work in a highly collaborative environment, making deep connections with students. Candidates should be energetic and progressive-minded, with a willingness to work collaboratively with grade-level and specialist teams.

Educational Background and Work Experience
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • PA teacher certification. Out-of-state certification must be approved by the PA Dept. of Education
  • Familiarity with charter schools and 9-12 students
Compensation and Benefits
Salary of $36,758 plus participation in a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-, and long-term disability insurance, paid time off, and participation in a generous 403b retirement plan.

Clearances current within one year of start date will be required and include: Arrest & Conviction Disclosure, Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151), Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Clearance (Act 114), FBI Criminal Background Check. Commonwealth of PA Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release (Act 168) and Mandated Reporter Training will also be required.
