About This Position

The Lead Outpt Rehab Therapist will report to the Clinical Manager of Outpatient Therapy Services and is responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality rehabilitation services within the outpatient setting. This role combines clinical expertise with leadership responsibilities, ensuring patient-centered care, compliance with regulatory standards, support for the professional development of the therapy team, and growth of clinical service.

Clinical Care:

    Provide direct patient care, including evaluation, treatment planning, and implementation of evidence-based interventions. Ensure individualized treatment plans that align with patient goals and functional outcomes. Work on identifying reasons for payment denials and reconciliation.
Leadership & Supervision:

    Mentor and guide therapy staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment. Assist with onboarding, training, and competency assessments for new team members. Monitor productivity, quality metrics, and adherence to best practices. Attends and participates and/or runs department meetings and is accountable for all information shared.
Program Development:

    Collaborate with management to develop and implement clinical programs and initiatives. Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to strategic planning. Developing and recommending new patient treatment protocols and revising existing ones. Develop and inform department on new documentation opportunities and programs.
Compliance & Documentation:

    Ensure accurate and timely documentation in accordance with regulatory and organization standards. Maintain compliance with state licensure requirements and professional practice guidelines.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration:

    Work closely with physicians, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care. Attend Rehab Council meetings and other leadership opportunities identified by manager.
Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the department:

    Completes other job-related duties and projects as assigned. Receives patient feedback via call backs, leader rounds, or surveys. Lead therapist will perform these responsibilities as well as all responsibilities of a Physical Therapist as outlined in job description.
ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Associate complies with the following organizational requirements:

    Attends and participates in department meetings and is accountable for all information shared. Completes mandatory education, annual competencies, and department specific education within established timeframes. Completes annual employee health requirements within established timeframes. Maintains license/certification, registration in good standing throughout fiscal year. Direct patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS (CPR), and other certifications as required by position/department. Consistently utilizes appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self.
    Adheres to regulatory agency requirements, survey process and compliance. Complies with established organization and department policies. Available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required.

Education and Experience

    Doctorate or master’s degree in physical therapy from an accredited program. Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist. Minimum 3–5 years of clinical experience, preferably in outpatient rehabilitation. Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge & Skills

    Familiarity with basic hospital equipment and policies and procedures. Able to perform blood pressure and other vital signs correctly. Knowledge of and correct utilization of good body mechanics. Requires an understanding of the need to be responsive and reasonably. Adaptable for scheduling purposes, when necessary, due to extenuating circumstances in support of co-workers and department functions. Strong team player. Communicates clearly and promptly with supervising nurse to give prompt care and experience for patients and families. Basic computer knowledge and skills.
Working Conditions

    Moderate stress involved when census and/or acuity is high,?or staffing levels are low. Potential hazards due to possible direct exposure to patients with infectious diseases, exposure to sometimes hostile and combative patients.
Physical Demands

  • Requires the physical ability and stamina (i.e.,?to walk/stand for prolonged periods of time, push carts/wheelchairs up to 50 pounds, to position/lift patients at a maximum of 35 pounds unassisted, over 35 pounds requires assistance, provide CPR, etc.) to perform the essential functions of the position.
