Job Description

Location: Fairbanks, Alaska
Employment type: Full-time, live-in team position
Schedule: Residential, on-site role
Employer: Presbyterian Hospitality House (PHH)

Help adolescents build safer, healthier futures

Presbyterian Hospitality House (PHH) is seeking a committed couple to join our team as
Teaching Parents in a live-in Case Management Team role. Together, you will provide
structure, encouragement, and positive adult role modeling for up to five adolescents in a
residential group-home setting.

This is meaningful work for emotionally healthy adults who can combine compassion with
common sense, consistency, humor, and sound judgment. You will help young people
strengthen social, academic, behavioral, and independent-living skills while supporting their
progress in a safe, stable home environment.

Important: This is a residential group-home position—not a traditional classroom teaching job.
The role involves living on site and participating in the day-to-day care, guidance, supervision,
and development of youth.

Ideal Candidates: Parent partners are enthusiastic, emotionally healthy, and dependable team
players who excel at mentoring adolescents with patience, humor, sound judgment, and
unwavering professional standards!

Preferred qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, social work, psychology, criminal justice, behavioral health, or a related field—preferably held by at least one member of the team.
  • Previous experience working with teenagers in a residential treatment, group-home, behavioral-health, foster-care, juvenile-justice, education, or social-services setting.
  • Experience with case management, trauma-informed care, crisis de-escalation, youth development, or positive behavior support.
  • A demonstrated ability to support academic progress and teach practical life skills.
Relevant backgrounds include social work, criminal justice, psychology, education,
counseling, behavioral health, foster care, youth services, and residential treatment.

What you’ll do
  • Serve as dependable adult role models in a safe, structured home.
  • Build trusting relationships and maintain healthy boundaries.
  • Teach social, emotional, academic, and independent-living skills.
  • Provide daily guidance, coaching, and appropriate counseling support.
  • Help youth practice communication, self-regulation, and conflict resolution.
  • Support school engagement and follow individualized treatment plans.
  • Document observations, progress, and incidents accurately and on time.
  • Communicate professionally with families, schools, clinicians, and team members.
  • Respond calmly to challenging behaviors while maintaining a welcoming environment.
  • Participate in required training and ongoing professional development.
Why join PHH

PHH provides community-based mental and behavioral-health treatment as an alternative to
institutional or juvenile-detention placement. Our research-informed approach uses positive
reinforcement and healthy adult role models to help youth develop the academic, social, and life
skills they need to participate in a healthy community.

Benefits Include:
  • Comprehensive health-care coverage for you and your family.
  • Employer-paid life insurance.
  • 401(k) plan with a 6% employer match after six months of service.
  • Accrued leave and dedicated mental-health leave.
  • Training and continuing-education opportunities after one year of service.
  • Potential tuition reimbursement in a related field after five years of service.
  • Employment that may qualify for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF).
  • Competitive salary.
  • Relocation assistance, negotiable.
  • Family-friendly work environment.
