About This Position
The SUD Counselor is responsible for providing substance abuse treatment to clients. In this position, the SUD Counselor will meet with each client and develop a treatment plan. Treatment planning and execution is top priority to ensure optimal care. The SUD Counselor must also ensure adequate and timely documentation is entered into the ICANotes system.
Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in psychology or behavior-related degree.
Skills: Must have an ADT, CSC-AD, CAC-AD, or licensed counselor through the state of Maryland. Must have excellent problem solving, decision making, and analytical skills. Must have working knowledge of computers including EHR and SUD billing codes.
Requirements:Our clinic needs an Addiction Counselor to provide treatment for our clients. In this position, you will meet with each client, assess their past and present drug use, and devise a course of treatment. Treatment planning and execution is your chief priority. Our perfect candidate is a licensed addiction counselor or addiction trainee, who is under appropriate supervision. Any experience you have in a specific discipline, such as interventional therapy, is beneficial.
SUD Counselor Duties and Responsibilities
- Meet with new clients for assessment
- Plan a course of treatment
- Regularly meet with clients for therapy sessions
- Refer clients to additional specialists
- Update their treatment as necessary
- Individual and group counseling
- Completing progress notes at the end of each week
- Reviewing treatment plans for clients served, monthly
- Recording all sessions in the EMR
- Attend weekly staff meeting
- Continuing training of certifications
- Follow all HIPPA Laws
SUD Counselor Requirements and Qualifications
- State licensure in Addiction
- Efficient communication skills
- EHR knowledge
- Clinical experience
