The Monarch San Antonio – A Legacy of Service and Sophistication
The Monarch San Antonio, part of the Curio Collection by Hilton, is a 200-room, 17-story boutique hotel located in the Hemisfair District of downtown San Antonio. It is set to open in early 2026 and is inspired by the Monarch butterfly that migrates through the region each winter. The hotel will feature a full-service spa, a terrace pool, and five food and beverage concepts, including a rooftop restaurant and bar.

Position Overview
The Receiving Clerk supports the Culinary Department by ensuring all food, beverage, and kitchen-related deliveries are received, inspected, documented, and stored accurately in line with hotel standards. This role plays a key part in maintaining product quality, food safety, and overall kitchen efficiency through strong organization and attention to detail.
What You’ll Do
Receiving & Inspection
- Receive and verify all food, beverage, and culinary supply deliveries against purchase orders and invoices
- Inspect deliveries for quality, freshness, proper temperature, damage, and accuracy
- Reject or report items that do not meet established quality and safety standards
- Ensure all perishable items meet food safety guidelines and HACCP requirements
Inventory Control & Storage
- Label, date, and rotate products following FIFO procedures to maintain freshness and reduce waste
- Store products immediately in designated dry storage, refrigeration, or freezer areas
- Maintain accurate receiving logs and documentation
- Communicate discrepancies, shortages, or quality concerns to the Executive Chef and Purchasing
Organization & Compliance
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of receiving areas, storage rooms, walk-ins, and freezers
- Follow all health department, food safety, and sanitation standards
- Support sustainability efforts by monitoring waste and packaging practices
Team Support & Coordination
- Coordinate with culinary leadership on product substitutions, delivery issues, and inventory needs
- Assist with monthly inventory counts and stock reconciliation
- Operate pallet jacks, carts, and other equipment safely when moving product
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform other duties as assigned to support hotel operations
- Maintain reliable and consistent attendance as an essential function of the role
What You’ll Bring
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in receiving, purchasing, warehouse, or culinary inventory control preferred
- Experience in hospitality or food service environments preferred
Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of food safety standards, temperature control, and storage practices
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Ability to communicate clearly with chefs, vendors, and hotel departments
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods
- Comfortable working in refrigerated and freezer environments
- Ability to operate basic material handling equipment safely
- Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays based on delivery schedules
- Professional appearance and adherence to grooming standards
- Strong commitment to quality, safety, and operational support
