About This Position

We are looking for an Event + Venue Manager to help us as we activate and transform some of San Francisco’s most amazing buildings into a premier event space portfolio.

Who We Are

We are Non Plus Ultra - we activate historic, one-of-a-kind properties, and unique civic-owned spaces by partnering with global brands, artists, and community leaders to create unparalleled experiences. Iconic, timeless, unique. We work with our partners to create incredible performances, elevated experiences, large-scale conferences, community activations, and mind-blowing events.

Who You Are

You’re a self-starter with a commitment to customer success. You are also a creative thinker, fantastic communicator, great listener, team player, and a tireless client advocate. You set high goals (because those are the most fun to crush). You speak our language (which, importantly, does not have a word for ‘No’ but does have a seemingly infinite number of ways to say ‘Yes’). You have no time to waste complaining about what is broken because you’re busy fixing it.

What you will be doing General
  • Manage production for our partners’ and our own events and projects;
  • Facilitate communications between all teams and partners to ensure a smooth event and project execution;
  • Oversee venue maintenance to make sure our spaces are event-ready at all times;
  • Support Sales and Marketing in their efforts.
  • Proactively build, grow, and manage a venue-based team that may include Event Managers, Operations Managers, and Facilities Managers;
  • Ensure venue-based team effectiveness by coaching and mentoring team members, to ensure seamless event execution and unparalleled client satisfaction.
Event Design and Execution
  • Assist partners with navigating Company’s logistical planning process;
  • Communicate the unique logistical requirements for each venue to partners;
  • Coordinate run-of-show and day-of-event operations and venue usage;
  • Maintain complete and up to date CRM records;
  • Assist with all requirements for permitting of large-scale traffic plans and crowd management;
  • Wherever appropriate, introduce partners to NPU’s preferred vendors;
  • Enforce third-party vendor compliance with electrical, engineering, license, security, insurance, permitting requirements, and other applicable city codes and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage all design, permitting, fabrication, production and operations of NPU events
Sales & Marketing
  • Develop event budget and assist Sales Managers on pricing proposals;
  • Support partner site walkthroughs and assist Sales with any logistical questions;
  • Meet all prospective partners and gain an understanding of their event/vision in order to support the Sales Manager and, post-contracting, take a lead on a seamless transition and flawless execution;
  • Assist Marketing to create all sales collateral, floor plans, logistic procedures, SOPs, rules and regulations.
  • Support Marketing pre and post-launch of event activities.
What we are looking for
  • 3-5 years' experience in event management or production
  • Must be:
    • Obsessively focused on client satisfaction…. perhaps subject to chronic bouts of need-to-be-liked syndrome
    • A self-starter that thrives in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
    • Metrics-driven
    • Have strong problem-solving skills
    • Detail-oriented and organized to track and execute all opportunities well
    • Capable of designing/implementing processes (sometimes from scratch) to improve execution
    • Resourceful
    • Detail-oriented and organized to track and execute all opportunities well
    • Able to deal with ambiguity to improve as we grow

  • Must be able to walk up and downstairs, be able to lift 50lbs
