Purpose of the Role

The Learning & Development Supervisor is a hands-on leader responsible for supporting the design, delivery, and deployment of learning programs that build capability across Boise Cascade. This role serves as a working supervisor who actively contributes to instructional design and facilitation while coordinating learning program execution.

The Learning & Development Supervisor partners with business leaders and the Talent & Organizational Effectiveness team to ensure learning programs are implemented effectively and aligned with business priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a working supervisor, directly contributing to instructional design and facilitation while supporting coordination of learning initiatives.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and guidance to members of the learning team, including coaching, development, and work prioritization.
  • Design and develop learning content using sound instructional design and adult learning principles.
  • Facilitate learning experiences in both in-person and virtual environments for leaders and associates.
  • Support the deployment and administration of learning programs, including use of the Learning Management System (LMS) and other learning technologies.
  • Partner with business leaders and HR partners to support learning needs and ensure effective program implementation.
  • Support the execution of enterprise learning programs and initiatives led by the Talent & Organizational Effectiveness team.
  • Monitor learning program effectiveness and provide feedback to support continuous improvement.
  • Ensure learning programs are accessible and practical for a wide range of associates, including frontline and non-desk populations.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in instructional design and curriculum development.
  • Proven facilitation experience in both live and virtual learning environments.
  • Experience leading or coordinating the work of others.
  • Experience supporting or managing learning systems (LMS) and learning technologies.
  • Strong organizational and execution skills with the ability to manage multiple learning initiatives simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and partnership skills when working with internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to connect learning programs to practical business needs and associate development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Organizational Development, Human Resources, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience building and deploying learning programs for non-desk or frontline workforces (manufacturing, distribution, or field-based populations).
  • Experience developing leadership and professional development programs.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-wide learning strategies and frameworks.
  • Familiarity with change management and large-scale program deployment.
