AIM is seeking an exceptional Media Specialist who will foster a dynamic library and learning environment that strengthens students’ literacy, research, and digital citizenship skills to support success in college, careers, and life, particularly in health science and STEMM pathways. Information literacy is increasingly essential in today’s world, and students must be equipped to locate credible sources, evaluate misinformation, and use technology responsibly. The Media Specialist will inspire students to become curious, confident learners by promoting a love of reading, guiding effective research practices, and providing access to high-quality digital and print resources.

Requirements:

Key Responsibilities

  • Instructional Excellence & STEMM Integration

Build and manage a library collection aligned with Georgia Standards of Excellence, prioritizing medical journals, digital databases, and health-science literature for grades 6-12.

Teach advanced information literacy, focusing on navigating clinical databases, evaluating medical study credibility, and mastering academic citation.

Leverage AIM’s professional simulation labs and interdisciplinary STEMM programming to create authentic learning opportunities, such as role-play scenarios, bilingual medical dialogues, informational interviews, and community-based communication projects.

Provide multilingual medical resources and instruction that prepare students to navigate communication gaps within diverse healthcare environments.

  • Student Development & Mentorship

Build students’ critical thinking, interpersonal communication, collaboration, and academic confidence by engaging them in meaningful language tasks that reflect college and career expectations. Collaborate with the academic team to support academic, social, and emotional needs. Manage integrated technology and hands-on learning equipment that enhances instruction and engagement.

Support students’ digital health and development of their research skills in medical databases.

  • Collaboration & School Culture

Collaborate with school leadership and colleagues across content areas to integrate media resources and technology into our interdisciplinary units that connect to health sciences, STEMM themes, and real-world applications.

Contribute to building a positive, professional, and rigorous school culture that reflects AIM’s commitment to equity, excellence, student voice, and meaningful relationships.

Actively engage in professional development aligned with the school’s improvement plan, goals, and charter performance targets.

Participate in school events, family engagement nights, and community outreach activities. Maintain flexibility, adaptability, and composure in a dynamic learning environment.

Qualifications

Required

Bachelor’s degree.

Valid Georgia teaching certification (or eligibility to obtain one) in Secondary (6-12) Education (preferred). A minimum of 2 years of successful teaching experience.

Proven commitment to high academic standards and student success, particularly for students from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred

Experience in project-based learning (PBL) or integrating interdisciplinary STEM/STEMM concepts. Experience teaching high quality, cohesive interdisciplinary units such as IB or EL Education. Experience with dual enrollment models or college-level curriculum preparation.

A strong understanding of using data for student improvement.

A desire to contribute to building a school model from the ground up.

Other Requirements

Lifting and carrying 10-25 pounds frequently, 25-40 pounds occasionally.

Travel to other locations as needed for training, supervision, or school events.

May be required under specific circumstances to provide physical restraint of students to prevent harm to self or others, in accordance with training, school procedures, and legal and regulatory requirements.

Environmental Factors

Ongoing: Frequent exposure to temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise. Occasional: Exposure to biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.)
