Job Summary: The company is seeking a talented and creative Junior Industrial Designer to join its growing design team. The role will primarily focus on floor plan design and rendering, requiring a strong understanding of layout principles, furniture and fixture knowledge, and spatial awareness. The ideal candidate possesses a solid foundation in design principles, along with technical proficiency and strong communication skills.
What does a day in the life of a Junior Industrial Designer look like?
Develop comprehensive floorplan layouts for various hospitality, industrial, and commercial spaces.
Ensure that floorplans adhere to design standards and client requirements.
Utilize design software to create accurate and visually appealing floorplans.
Create high-quality renderings of floorplans to visualize design concepts and communicate effectively with clients.
Employ industry-standard rendering techniques and software to produce realistic and immersive visualizations.
Demonstrate a keen understanding of spatial relationships and how to optimize the use of available space.
Consider factors such as accessibility and functionality when designing floorplans.
Ability to work with technical drawings and specifications.
Analyze client needs and preferences to develop tailored design solutions.
Identify potential design challenges and propose effective solutions.
Collaborate with team members to address design issues and find creative solutions.
Adapt to changing requirements and project timelines.
Effectively manage time and prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines.
Work efficiently to deliver high-quality results within specified timeframes.
Clearly communicate design ideas and concepts to clients, team members, and stakeholders.
Actively listen to feedback and make necessary adjustments to designs.
Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback to colleagues.
What are the qualifications of a Junior Industrial Designer?
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design or a related field with an updated portfolio.
0-2 years of experience in industrial design or a relevant field (or strong internship experience).
Strong understanding of design principles and methodologies.
Proficiency in 2D design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator) and basic knowledge of 3D modeling software is a plus.
Strong attention to detail and a passion for creating high-quality products.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Capacity to consistently adapt to continuous process improvements.
Ability to work independently and take initiative.
Familiarity with both Apple and Windows operating systems.
