Welder / Pipefitter, Propane Bulk Plants in Duluth, Minnesota at Superior Fuel Company

Position summary:
Superior Fuel Company is hiring an experienced Welder / Pipefitter for our Duluth shop. This position fabricates, installs, and repairs liquid and vapor piping systems at propane bulk storage plants. It also fabricates skid tank assemblies and performs welding repairs on plant equipment. All work is performed to NFPA 58, applicable ASME codes, and company Welding Procedure Specifications.

Essential duties:
• Lay out, cut, thread, fit, and pipes for LP-gas liquid and vapor service
• Repair and modify existing bulk plant piping, valves, and fittings
• Fabricate and weld skid tank assemblies from drawings and specifications
• Perform welding repairs on propane trucks, plants and piping
• Pressure test and leak check completed piping and document results
• Follow lockout/tagout, purging, and hot work permit procedures without exception
• Maintain weld logs, material records, and job documentation

Required qualifications:
• Minimum 3 years of professional pipe welding experience
• Proficiency in SMAW (stick) on carbon steel pipe in all positions
• Proficiency in MIG for fabrication
• Demonstrated pipe fitting and threading experience
• Ability to read and work from drawings
• Ability to pass a company weld test to our WPS
• Valid driver license with an acceptable driving record
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
• Ability to lift 75 lbs and work outdoors in all weather conditions

Preferred qualifications:
• Current ASME Section IX 6G pipe certification
• TIG experience
• Experience in LP-gas, anhydrous ammonia, or refined fuels facilities
• Working knowledge of NFPA 58
• Diesel mechanical experience
• Class B CDL

Schedule and compensation:
• Overtime and emergency call-in as required.
• $25-40 per hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience
