Direct Purchasing Manager in Howell, Michigan at Linacast, Inc.

Job Summary:

Responsible for direct material purchasing and reducing cost of all plant purchases.

Responsibilities

· Purchase all necessary direct material supplies needed for the operation of the plant

· Review cost and negotiate least cost contracts and terms

· Insist on vendor compliance to company’s needs relative to purchases

· Create and manage purchase orders for our suppliers

· Oversee MRO database

· Manage Purchasing department activities

· Works with cross functional teams to continually improve, problem solve and reduce waste

· Communicate to the operational people on a daily basis

· Maintain all necessary paperwork associated with the position

· Works with cross functional teams to continually improve, problem solve and reduce waste

· Participates in weekly LPA audits and Safety Gemba walks

· Perform any and all other job-related tasks as assigned

Academic Requirements

High School degree or equivalent plus five (5) years purchasing experience; an undergraduate degree or equivalent (desired but optional).

Required Skills & Experience

Proficient in Microsoft Office

Knowledge of ERP (XA, Plex)
