Job Description
Job Summary:
The Regional Quality Control Manager ensures that all required testing and resolution of material quality issues are completed in a timely fashion across all required facilities and projects within a region, and that all testing is documented appropriately. The QCM's primary responsibility is to supervise all Quality Control (QC) activities, personnel, and facilities within a given region using one's experience and effective communication to ensure the highest level of quality control testing and recording are always in-place across the region.
Essential Functions:
1. In accordance with project specifications, actively coordinate, oversee and (at times) conduct all required lab testing across regional facilities and projects. Ensure all required laboratory testing across regional facilities and projects is carried out.
2. Perform various aggregate and asphalt-related tests to include coarse and fine aggregate gradations, RAP gradations, wash loss, unit weights, crush count, etc. as required by project specifications.
3. Perform basic asphalt pavement tests such as Air Void Analysis (GMB), Rice Test (GMM), Hot Bin Analysis, Moisture Content, Drum Composite, AC Ignition Oven Test, etc.
4. Oversee, coordinate and perform all liquid asphalt testing, as required
5. Review specifications and prepare mix designs in accordance with project specifications
6. Review and/or prepare laboratory reports; ensuring they are accurately maintained and completed in a timely manner
7. Maintain calibration of lab equipment. Train junior QC staff to calibrate and maintain calibration of laboratory equipment. Procure laboratory equipment and arrange for maintenance of QC equipment to keep it in proper working condition.
8. Maintain records, preparing reports and accurate record keeping for all tests completed by all QC staff members, including calibration efforts.
9. Communicate with DOT personnel and inspectors, plant operators and superintendents, and sales representatives to coordinate schedules and project testing and reporting.
10. Manage QC facilities and program to ensure that facilities are staffed with qualified, well-trained employees.
Requirements, Education and Experience:
1. High school diploma required, Associates degree preferred.
2. The ideal candidate should currently hold or be willing to obtain a QCT Certification from a NYSDOT or NETTCP accredited program
3. Have experience working hands-on in manual labor environments
4. Be comfortable using mechanical tools, equipment, and machinery
5. Have and maintain reliable transportation
6. Proficient literacy in English and computational Math; clear verbal and written communication is required for this position
7. Must be computer literate and comfortable using Word, Excel, and email
8. Quality Control experience in the Asphalt and Concrete Industries is a plus
9. Work irregular hours based upon customer's needs including day, evenings, overnights, and occasional weekends
10. Legal right to work in the U. S.

Travel:
Extensive travel throughout the serviced region by personal vehicle.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
Medium Work: Exerting up to 50lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 10lbs of force constantly to move objects. This position works on or near moving mechanical parts and loud equipment. Requires the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time as well as lifting, bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing, walking, reaching, driving, and repetitive motion.
