Assistant Manager / Shift Leader at Forward Corporation – Gladwin, Michigan

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated Convenience Store Assistant Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, maintaining a clean and organized work environment, and ensuring the efficient operation of the convenience station.

Known primarily for its many Shell and Marathon Convenience Stores, Forward's brand portfolio has grown to include several Subway Restaurants, Super 8 Motels, a Quality Inn, and The LumberJack Restaurant in West Branch. Duties:

- Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner

- Operate cash registers and handle transactions accurately

- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning fuel pumps and restocking merchandise

- Assist customers with inquiries and provide information on products or services

- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines at all times

- Keep the convenience station premises clean and presentable

-Assist with training of new employees and assist the Manager in managerial duties

Requirements:

- Previous experience in a customer service role preferred

- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with customers

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

- Basic math skills for handling transactions and calculating change

- Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in cash handling and inventory control

Nice-to-have Skills:

- Knowledge of inventory control procedures

- Experience in sales management or retail operations

- Familiarity with administrative tasks such as record-keeping and reporting

- Ability to lead and manage a team effectively

- Understanding of employee orientation practices
