About This Position

Sushi Samba, a restaurant that serves a unique blend of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian cuisine, complemented by conceptual music and much-lauded design.

The primary responsibilities of a Runner are to assist our service staff to exemplify uncompromising hospitality, provide our guests with an excellent dining experience, deliver food, describe items, replenish supplies and act as a liaison between the FOH staff and BOH staff.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Attend mandatory Pre-shift meetings before service
  • Arrive to work on time for shift
  • Ensure that tables are set to standards
  • After the meal is prepared, the food runner is responsible for ensuring that the plate arrives to the guest. It is important that the plates are handled carefully and brought out in a timely manner, to ensure optimal food temperature.
  • Deliver and describe food and beverages to the tables assigned
  • Responsible for knowing how each dish is presented in order to assure that the proper order has been delivered to the table
  • As needed, wipe tables and seats with dampened cloths, and replace dirty tablecloths
  • Set tables with clean linens, condiments, and other supplies
  • Scrape and stack dirty dishes, and carry dishes and other tableware to kitchens for cleaning
  • Clean up spilled food, drink and broken dishes, and remove empty bottles and trash
  • Perform serving, cleaning, and stocking duties in dining rooms in order to facilitate customer service
  • Maintain adequate supplies of items such as clean linens, silverware, glassware, dishes, and trays
  • Serve ice water and coffee
  • Fill beverage and ice dispensers
  • Stock serving areas with condiments, and refill condiment containers as necessary
  • Locate items requested by guests
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper uniform while working
  • Maintain a friendly and warm demeanor at all times
  • Keep wait stations clean, set up and take down station appropriately
  • Remove dishes and glasses from tables or counters, and take them to kitchen for cleaning
  • May be asked to perform side work such as the following: stock service areas with supplies such as coffee, food, tableware, and linens
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. preferred
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in a related field, preferably in hotels or restaurants
  • Ability to display warmth and hospitability
  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required
  • Ability to stand during entire shift
  • Exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move object
  • Knowledge of Latin and Asian cuisine a plus
