Host at Med Center Health

Position Summary
- Responsible for general operations of the House when on duty. Registers and orients guests to the House upon arrival. Checks out guests and coordinates cleaning of room with evening Attendant.
Minimum Qualifications
- Work Experience
  - One year of hotel/motel registration, customer service, or retail services work experience preferred.
- Education
  - High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Certifications/Licensure
  - None required.
Job Specific Performance Standards
- The duties listed below are a summary of the major essential functions of this position. The position may require other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned, and specific functions may change from time to time.
  - Maintains daily communications with contact person(s) at MCBG and CRSH regarding guest room availability.
  - Receives referrals sent by appropriate hospital personnel and makes preparation for guest’s arrival by checking assigned room for readiness and making contact with guest to facilitate appropriate arrival time.
  - Registers guests and orients guests to the House upon arrival and reviews policy requirements. Answers guest questions and provides personal tour of facility and available services. Keys guest room cards and supplies after hours’ door code. Completes registration by updating My House with appropriate guest information.
  - Answers Hospitality House telephones and relays messages to guests.
  - Issues linens and responsible for bi-weekly room checks of long term guests.
  - Responsible for guest check out, key deactivation, and updating My House. Collects and accounts for donations either by cash, check or credit card in accordance with department policy. Balances the cash drawer at the end of the shift.
  - Responsible for cleaning guest rooms upon departure, including bed changes, replacing towels, cleaning bath and outer room and checking room supplies for missing items.
  - Upholds and enforces house rules as established by policy. Communicates with Director when a guest intervention is necessary.
  - Responsible for managing inventory of house supplies, maintaining par levels. Places orders through corporate stockroom and prepares purchase requisitions for approval by house director.
  - Ensures a safe comfortable environment for guests and volunteers, notifying appropriate personnel to situation or potential problems. Is aware and sympathetic of families living under stress, notifies appropriate personnel if situations warrant additional attention. Makes arrangements when necessary for volunteer coverage. Calls clergy or other hospital personnel when requested.
  - Provides a physical staff presence during the evening hours to discourage theft and anti-policy behaviors such as smoking and alcohol use at the Hospitality House. When necessary addresses inappropriate behaviors with guests in a calm yet firm manner. Uses proper technique to avoid escalation of situations. Seeks assistance from Security or the Director as necessary.
  - Ensures that public and residential areas of the House and grounds are safe, clean and attractive and operational at all times through use of all resources (self, staff, volunteers, corporate support personnel). This may include all areas of housekeeping, cleaning guest rooms, removing trash, shoveling sidewalks, etc.
