Job Description

Help to example a team oriented atmosphere by ensuring all are participating equally and productively with the cleanup and storage of all equipment and tray wares. Direct sub-ordinates and supervises the operation of the dish machine by loading or unloading dishware. Ensures dishware and serving wares are cleaned as per the department standard & process. Additionally, ensures that all trash is removed from kitchen and utility areas and maintains sanitation requirements and overall room cleanliness.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: 1 year experience in a food service setting preferred.

Certification: n/a

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:

Under the direct supervision of the Food Service Supervisor, the Dish room Leader is responsible for:

  • Work with the supervisor to coordinate the timely passing of all food carts during meal service.
  • Delivering food trays during meal service as directed by Supervisor.
  • Setting up Dish Machine & accompanying scrape stations and soak sinks for operation.
  • Overseeing Sanitation room activities & associates that all job procedures are being followed properly within safety and sanitation standards.
  • Scraping trays and operating the dish machine within proper temperature ranges
  • Cleaning and de-liming the dish machine and communicating maintenance needs.
  • Updating Production Manager of any soaps and supplies needed for operation.
  • Directing the pickup & removal of all tray wares and storage carts from the patient floors.
  • Cleaning and storage of work equipment/utensils so as to provide quality product and optimal safety for all food preparation equipment.
  • Adhere to standards set by the department for sanitation of all equipment and food contact surfaces.
  • Adhere to standards set by the department for food storage, handling and portioning of all foods.
  • Accomplish the day’s tasks as set forth by the position policies and procedures.
  • Provide “on the job” training to inexperienced employees.
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    The position is located indoors under normal working conditions. Requirements include ability to push/pull 500 lb. On wheels, lift/move 50 lb. from floor to table, be able to perform moderately difficult manual manipulations requiring hand-eye coordination, such as using the dish machine, working on the tray assembly line, and handling potentially hazardous chemicals. Mobility requirements may include the ability to squat, stand wand walk for a prolonged length of time (8 hour shift) and distance. Sensory requirements include the ability to articulate and comprehend the spoken English language in addition to being able to read the English language.

    Salary Range: $16.08-$21.07 /hour Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
